Successive governments have failed on social care. It’s not a shortage of good ideas that’s the problem, but a shortage of good politics.

Today that changes with Louise Casey.

Britain has a social care crisis. Here’s how we’ll work together to fix it 👇🏻

How nice that "freedom of speech" has led to a global power grab by 2 people (children) the least qualified to run their own lives, let alone ours. Twitter and Facebook are in the vanguard of promoting widespread, unchecked abuses by extremists - we have crucial decisions to take.

Twitter has lost nearly one-fifth of its daily active user base in the U.S. and a whopping one-third in the UK.  mashable.com/article/elon...
Elon Musk's X is losing users in the U.S., UK, and EU. X's own data proves it.
The former Twitter continues its decline under Musk.

One thing that has surprised me about #BlueSky is actually how few people have changed their handles. If you own a suitable domain it's a relatively simple process and is a great way to verify you are who you say you are. Makes promoting your handle much easier too.
How to set your domain as your handle - Bluesky
Using a domain as your handle helps with account identity, verification, and portability. Here's how to set your domain as your handle.

Community & Primary care is the key to helping manage the hospital backlogs

10% of hospital beds have patients fit for discharge
42%⬇️ District Nurses
7%⬇️GPs
14%⬇️community beds

More funding to Community Care - not reorganisation - would sort this sooner & the public agrees

Hey BlueSkyers - did you know my colleague @tomcalver.bsky.social is here! He is @thetimes.com Data Editor and writes a brilliant weekly column for The Sunday Times. He makes data real in a way that is a joy to read.

Give him a follow. His latest effort is here:
Get rich slow with a humanities degree — it’s not all about Stem

The NHS needs an organisational shift to servant leadership to help our people get through the ongoing crisis of care.

Don’t focus on unworkable plans that expect more work for free, instead focus on the morale and environment of those who work for us.

Support your people.

I recently started a podcast to help support my healthcare colleagues (and myself) working through these very difficult times

After six episodes, I was in two minds whether to continue it.

Today, a nurse told me how much it has helped her. She cried. We hugged.

Not in two minds anymore.

Starmer says, “We have not just inherited an economic black hole, but a societal black hole.”

The IFS confirmed today that Labour would not have known the Tories had spent the entire government reserve by July and had set no cash aside for confirmed initiatives.”

However bad the last few years of government, the fundamental problem remains that the UK wants low taxes and high spending, and in an ageing society which adversely affects both sides of that equation, that's no longer tenable.
