Stop saying this!

It is not the enlightened judo you think it is.

Militarized policing of urban centers in red states is a briar patch that some would be very happy to be thrown into. JUST. STOP.
Newsom: Perhaps the president could deploy the National Guard in every corner of Mississippi. Murder rate is out of control there. And the governor may want to make that phone call.

There’s a widespread myth that Americans hate traffic cameras. It’s simply not true.

On the contrary, researchers have consistently found that Americans broadly support using automatic enforcement to curb crashes. And for good reason: It works.

Me, in Bloomberg 🧵
Automated Traffic Enforcement Is More Popular Than You Think
Cameras that ticket drivers who run red lights and speed are effective and widely popular with city residents. So why are they banned in so many places?

I have had SO many questions about the Abundance™️ debates & at times felt aligned, at times opposed, confused, excited… and SO lost for a clear definition. This new piece from @niskanencenter.bsky.social’s Steve Teles on “Abundance Varieties” is SO clarifying!

Varieties of Abundance - Niskanen Center
We will know that abundance has succeeded when there is a proliferation of “abundances,” different governing projects attached to previously existing ideologies, interests, and parties.

bsky.app Bluesky @bsky.app · Aug 22
Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

1 o'my controversial views is that it's neither practical nor desirable for Congress to actually read bills. People are familiar w/the idea that politicians lie, but I think people mostly assume that's restricted to interactions w/the public, & don't realize it extends to actual legislative language
Again, we want to emphasize this for every voter who believes in an informed Congress passing bills that are supposed to be in the interest of the country, if they voted yes without reading it, you need to replace them. They get paid $174k a year with benefits for life and can't bother to read bills

The solution here is that we need to treat governance as a critical job that demands physical stamina and presence. We need to normalize requiring the disclosure of health limitations from those who are responsible for national security, the economy, etc.
