I finally got PowerShell running in Ubuntu, on Termux on my Galaxy S24+.

No reason.

Really enjoyed the first session of #Halfstack 2025.

It highlighted some of pitfalls of being an occasional front-end full-stacker... and left me feeling hopeful. Yes, hopeful.
And from Berlin straight to London for HalfStack where I will be giving a new talk about Baseline.

I'll be talking about the issues that web developers have keeping up with the ever expanding web platform and how to deal with browser compatibility and interoperability.

The reality that Apple is actively anti-web is obscured by influential, aging web commentators who remember when it wasn't, and enjoy the wealth bubble's shiny toys. They're failing to demand better browsers on their phones, and that's a scandal:

Bought at Cash Converters for £20 in the late 2000s, this phone is "For Engineering Use Only" so
in retrospect, it's probably a stolen BlackBerry 8820.

Judging by the date, it thinks it's 2007. And I've no idea what the password might be.

I pulled out my history of mobile phones last night.

None of those using USB micro charging show signs of life. However, these older phones will turn on:

- USB mini-B charging (BlackBerry)
- Proprietary Samsung charger (SGH G600)

I still miss a good integrated hardware keyboard.

The world hasn't changed in the last hundred years. The wealthy still have the ear of the ruling class. Only now we have the illusion of control thanks to democracy. Look at how Labour have betrayed those who voted for them. Look at how the tech CEOs have replaced nobility.

The west is an oligarchy

If a Hotel website caps my password length at 15 characters and politely requests that I do not use special characters, should I just avoid them on principle?

In 2000, if you’d bet on who’d be doing better 25 years later (happier, and with more well-adjusted kids): Will Smith or Eminem? You’d probably have lost your money by now.

Do you ever code for several hours solid without being able to build the code (so, can't run & no tests), then finally take a deep breath and brace yourself as you hit F5?

Folks, I'm genuinely curious.

There are 7 CSS features in this snippet - class selector (.disco), property name (background-color), oklch(), from, calc(), & sibling-index().

How many do you know well, how many were you aware of but never really used, and how many did you have no idea they existed?
