Out of curiosity, does "day-to-day" puzzle you equally?

I don't build searches, but the people who do don't seem to always forsee how/what users will use their tools.

Anyway, I've never thought about the specs searches are designed with so this is interesting.

Thanks again!

I get you, thanks.

I learnt to search in the early, more basic days of search... Searching for specific key words in combination or exact phrases. Very different to the natural language ways that are most common these days.

I enjoyed this talk.

However, I get the feeling that search is like name text input fields... So many assumptions in search that actively make life difficult:

- not case sensitive
- changing my input
- assuming I want synonyms
- second guessing intent

These should not be a given 💔😭

Gutted that I have discovered this in its final year. (but happy for the organiser!)

Won't someone take forward the idea? 🤞

Whilst I'd like to blame the fragility and ineptitude of USB micro ports for this BlackBerry 8900 Curve not turning on, I have remembered what actually happened.

I tried to install the Yammer app on it circa 2010 (pre-Microsoft ownership) and it became instantly, permanently bricked. 🪦

The back, for those who may be interested.

I should probably send them off to be recycled. I enjoyed taking the BlackBerry 8320 apart (not pictured), but there's probably not a lot I can do with the more modern phones.

Ah, would a shareable mute list not achieve that?

What do you mean by filtering based on feeds?

I complain a lot but it's nowhere near that bad.
