The Trib claims that most people would probably support deportation without the "bureaucratic hoops of obtaining a judicial warrant."

Politico's source says warrants are "the key operational thing that [deputy chief of staff] Stephen Miller and the crew do not want to budge on."

Yikes 😬
Editorial: Illinois should consider pragmatic tweaks to its sanctuary law
In Minnesota, Democratic politicians are negotiating pragmatic policy changes regarding their sanctuary policies. Illinois should do the same.

Just in case you were wondering the Tribune editorial board is now laundering talking points directly from Noem et Al:

"Last week, DHS issued a news release defending the use of administrative warrants, which are warrants issued by the executive branch itself, to conduct arrests."
This is literally what CURRENT LAW requires. It’s in the Constitution! www.politico.com/news/2026/02...

Illinois residents, please tell your legislators to cosponsor the Passenger Rail Planning Act! It would direct IDOT to plan for hourly service as a minimum along important routes.

Ald. Daniel La Spata (1st) convinced the City Council's Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety he chairs to let Chicagoans use their cell phones to essentially become "snitches" and provide the city with recorded evidence of bus, bike lane and crosswalk parking violations.

If the Tribune’s editorial standards apparently include publishing AI slop letters to the editors, maybe bike advocates should start flooding the zone with their own prompts— er, “articles”
Commentary: On one side lay the new concrete bike-lane barriers installed by the Chicago Department of Transportation. On the other, plastered across storefronts, was the anger: signs demanding “Give Us Back Our Parking” and clear traces of political discontent.
Yunus Emre Tozal: Why concrete barriers alone cannot fix Chicago’s Archer Avenue
On Chicago’s South and West sides, a bike lane is often read as the harbinger of gentrification.

Zero input from the biggest city in the state on a *high speed rail plan* because @brandon4chicago.bsky.social is incapable of appointing leaders, much less good ones.
IL High Speed Rail Commission will finalize its final report to the legislature by July without the input from Chicago. The city is not officially involved in the commission because the appointed seat for the city on the board is vacant and can only be appointed by the Mayor's Office.

Champaign-Urbana and McLean County have representation.

But Chicago — the economic engine of the entire state and arguably the Midwest — does not. And it’s literally just self-inflicted. Just didn’t get around to appointing anyone.

Every time cops aren't forced to back up their statements about "violence" from protesters, it's a smear on the people who showed up. It undermines their message. It takes away from the real crisis – mass abductions.

It gives police authority they shouldn't have when they lie through their teeth.
