Our takeaway? Framing based on threat has historically lessened public scrutiny & increased the leeway for public & private action, so this rhetorical turn further raises the stakes around democratic accountability in the EU. As the EU faces a changed world, democracy is even more important. FIN/

there's been one book-length treatment of glass's life and career in this century and it does a poor job of situating glass in post-reconstruction virginia and makes no real attempt to synthesize the connection between his segregationist views and his crusade for financial reform

The University of Cologne plans drastic cuts to its Political Science department, potentially abolishing the MSc in Political Science and eliminating the professorships in IR and Comparative Politics. This would severely weaken the social sciences at @unicologne.bsky.social.
