This is crazy talk, I obviously need need 50 TTL to RS485 converters, and that guy's prosthetic leg.
Messing around with Arduino projects is dangerous because buying components is always "well, the part I actually need is $10 but if I buy this box of five hundred bits and bobs for $15 it's included!" and now I have a drawer full of Future Project.

It's really not acceptable that the parties of democracy across the world at the moment are refusing to take action to protect its citizens against the surge of right wing authoritarianism. The continuing appeasement and display of weakness is accelerating our descent into an information dark age.
I’m going to start a running thread to catalogue the examples of the Government refusing to use power to safeguard itself, and British democracy from the obvious right wing populist threat.

Call it #WeimarStarmer

I do not understand the Labour government's reticence over defending the BBC and social media regulation. Their long-term survival basically depends on it. Their cowardice in the face of it may be the single thing they are most remembered for.

Yes to this - and read it.

VisaBan now. Simply because the citizens of a country waging an illegal war with illegal methods and threatening Europe should not be allowed to travel anywhere in the West.

They are a security risk and deserve nothing good from us.
In this 152nd long read on my strategy blog, I argue for a visa ban on Russian tourists, but it is also an opportunity for me to revisit the Russian opposition, its failed duties, and the concept of collective guilt of a nation.

There is way too little oversight and regulation on vehicles from China in Europe, not only do they have backddoors, but they are continually sending vast amounts of intelligence data from cameras and microphones. Translated link, www-nrk-no.translate.goog/stor-oslo/ru...

I hope they're working intently on reverse engineering the control and computer systems. There may not have been a kill switch initially, you can bet there is after Trump was told about the possibility though.

Men ALLE burde bruke Signal.

This is an EU proposed policy with the benign-sounding name "Child Sexual Abuse Regulation" which proposes to screen private online communications using sketchy image-scanning algorithms. It is technically unworkable, and would be a privacy catastrophe, especially for those in authoritarian states

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.
We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

How did we get to the point where 1984 is a goal and not a warning?
OK, by this logic...the surveillance of every facet of life--from comms to movement to social relationships to etc--which has become the norm over the last decades c/o the surveillance biz model, makes LE surveillance MORE possible than it's ever been in history.

But somehow e2ee is the problem?
The problem with digital speech activists’ one sided framing of this debate is that they don’t acknowledge that digital architecture has shifted what is possible. End-to-end encryption makes it impossible for law enforcement to do targeted surveillance, just as lack of it makes filtering trivial.
