Flip by Ngozi Ukazu--utterly lovely YA about a Black girl and white boy who swap bodies. Fandom inflected, balances artfulness and tropeyness perfectly. Asks more questions than it answers. Just great.

Just got back to town to find my ARC copy of this amazingly beautiful book arrived.

Everyone--this is so good, it's so good. It's about helplessness and fear and hope and resistance and it's so fucking hooky and pacey and smart. Naomi's writing hits like a fucking bolt gun.
So it feels very weird to be talking about anything other than the ICE occupation right now, but the ARCs of my new book arrived on Saturday. I'm going to do a giveaway.

Recognized the art at ten paces. Yes, yes you do.
Look you need to buy this book. Really, you do.

It’s truly the graphic novel I most enjoyed over the past year—stunning art, compelling and deeply felt stories, enviable worldbuilding

god help me someone asked what i'm looking for in short fiction. how do i say: horror but not like that, questions without answers, short, and fucking weird. the thing that makes good short fiction to me is that the final act of the story is in your head, not on the page

I tried to pitch so much coverage of this book, which is alarmingly relevant to day in light of the government’s attacks on disabled people esp children. Crickets. Glad to see the NBCC doing its job and elevating it.

every year I agonize over trying to pick my top (x) number of photos I took in the previous year, and I'll probably do that again this time, but I will admit this is the easiest slam-dunk favorite I've had in a couple of years.

i am not usually shrill about media consumption as a moral metric. i read historical romances, a genre riddled with colonial fantasies and gender essentialism! but the thing is that none of those authors are billionaires converting my money directly into anti-trans violence
