This can easily change by the next game, but all of my arguing with Bucks fans today that Cam Thomas is better (at this moment) than Jeremy Sochan certainly seems correct.

Watching some Milwaukee Bucks fans talk as if Jeremy Sochan would be a difference maker for them just makes me feel sad for Bucks fans.

The Spurs recent draft history is littered with huge misses. But it doesn't matter because 1) they got lucky to move up multiple times 2) hit on the important ones 3) have had multiple swings each draft

It's all about giving yourself enough opportunities

Wow! Was there no trade value for him at all?

To be fair, I’m not impressed with his game. Seems to do a lot of things decently, but nothing elite. His passing and IQ seem poor (the Draymond comps never seemed appropriate). But to give up on him for nothing still seems inexplicable.
The San Antonio Spurs and forward Jeremy Sochan have agreed on his release to allow the 2023 All-Rookie team member to become a free agent, sources tell ESPN. Sochan is expected to decide among multiple interested teams.

I feel like if you’re trying to fight a guy who beats women, that should be a mitigating factor. Would’ve given Bridges more games that Stew.
NBA suspensions for the Pistons-Hornets fight, sources tell ESPN:

Isaiah Stewart: 7 games

Miles Bridges: 4 games

Moussa Diabate: 4 games

Jalen Duren: 2 games

Imagine having two all-stars in their prime, and a rising potential All Star and just giving up games.

And what revisionist history are you talking about? The league forced Sam Hinkie to resign for this. And people have complained about tanking for years. But the multiple seasons makes it worse.
The revisionist history of blaming the Jazz for tanking when literally every team has done it before this year… the tantrums are outstanding. Good lord.
The Jazz are a disgusting organization. Imagine being a fan, buying a ticket, and knowing your team is actively trying to lose the game.

My favorite is Duncan Robinson’s.

No longer in PDX, but just learning about the potential move of the Blazers if the city/county/state don’t agree to fund renovations.

Honestly a little torn. Many studies have shown that cities don’t make back the $ given to teams for new stadiums. If that’s true, why subsidize billionaires?

First book for Black History Month was the biography of Claudette Colvin. Highly recommend. Dives below the surface details and examines how central she was in the pursuit of justice.

Currently reading @claycane.bsky.social now. I can’t lie, the title immediately hooked me.

I agree with this. James Harden has had some seriously disappointing playoff performances, but not nearly as many as the narrative implies. He single handedly won 2 games for the Sixers against Boston in the playoffs 2 years ago, and then vanished in Game 7.

The short term risk isn’t that high.
Koby Altman says the Cavs studied James Harden's past playoff struggles before trading for him, and feel he can be better for them next to Donovan Mitchell:

White women aren’t beating the allegations. (To be fair, I realize this is a small fraction)

The “you don’t know ball” takes are hilarious.

I guess thinking that the consensus #2 in the West, who took the reigning champs to 7 games with Gordon on one leg, and got better during the offseason, doesn’t need a major trade means I don’t know ball.

Giving y’all the internet was a mistake 🤦🏾‍♂️
Bröther you clearly do not know ball. Wasting Jokic's prime!
February 4, 2026 at 7:58 PM
Get Jokic some help? The team had a winning record without him, and has proven to have one of the best supporting casts in the league Murray’s an All Star, Gordon might be the best non-all star out there, Braun and Johnson are great role players, and Watson has taken a leap. Just need to get healthy
Are the nuggets going to make any moves or what??? We gotta get Jokic some help! Can't stay stagnant at the deadline!

I can see it now. The wizards finish with a 31-51 record, but fans keep telling us how they’re really a playoff team when AD and Trae are on the court together. Just got to give it more time. Surely they’ll be healthy next season 😂

But seriously, please be healthy!!!
The Wizards are going to go 12-7 in the games AD and Trae both play in next season

ESPN, stop sending me “breaking news” alerts about teams CONSIDERING trading for/away player x.

I don’t want to hear about it until it’s done. I’m not interested in your hypotheticals or speculation.

And I’m not reading any more “10 possible trades for Giannis.” Tell me when his jersey changes.

I get mad every time I see this. There’s no reason we should’ve lost to Houston in the Final Four smh.
Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg and Charlotte Hornets guard-forward Kon Knueppel have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in January.

Not sure I understand this for either team. I guess Memphis is blowing it up, so you’d expect Ja to be next, but that seems like a poor return for JJJ (assuming Utahs future picks are no longer lottery).

And what is Utah is doing? Roster is decent on paper with Keyonte, JJJ, and Lauri. But… idk.
BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading star forward Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Utah Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

Doc Rivers’s legacy as a coach will always be complicated. He’s both overrated and underrated.

But his courage in speaking up will always be appreciated. There’s no excuse for anyone to remain silent right now.

Speak up wherever you are and let it be known that you stand against these atrocities.
A week after Victor Wembanyama said as a “foreigner” he is “concerned” about the fallout from denouncing the killing of two Minneapolis residents by federal agents, Doc Rivers is encouraging everyone to speak out — even if there are consequences.

Everyday with this administration I read a news article that deserves 100x more attention, deserves a congressional hearing, full investigation, and someone needs to face consequences.

And then I read 5 more that day, to go along with the dozen earlier that week. This isn’t normal. This isn’t ok.

Incredible piece:
“One of the biggest historical myths is the belief that photos and news reports showing the brutal treatment of civil rights protesters shifted the public sentiment toward the Civil Rights Movement. While this narrative is widely accepted, there is scant evidence to support it.”
