Sharing Wilfred Owen's last and greatest poem, "Strange Meeting," for Veteran's Day 2025 (formerly known as Armistice Day after World War I.)

The off-rhymes and quasi-Miltonic half-blank verse point towards a road not taken in English-language poetry.

Trump went on a lying spree about inflation last week.

Grocery prices. Gas prices. Prescription drug prices. Overall prices. Over just three days, Trump made false claims about all of them.

In September, federal agents swarmed a Hyundai manufacturing site, detaining more than 500 workers, including more than 300 from South Korea.

Now, nearly 200 detainees are preparing to sue ICE, alleging human rights violations and unlawful arrest.
These South Korean workers came to the US to build an EV battery plant. They left in shackles. They still want to know why

For some reason, I have ALWAYS doted upon the metaphor— "the handkerchief's supreme farewell."

Better in French, of course.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

My poem, "Yesterday's Men," appears in issue 20 (autumn/winter 2025) of Banshee. Inspired by a little health scare earlier this year & a purely domestic accident.

Vista stradale di Napoli. So kewl there's a condom dispensing machine easily available in the public roadway. Near a church, by the way.

So sad it's not working.

Seems emblematic of so much in public life, here & abroad. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

“'Poets are not, generally speaking, a fully balanced or unenvious lot,' she writes."

The anomalous, extended dramatic scene in this sonnet (the first 12 lines are just 1 nearly breathless sentence) enacts—at the level of syntax and stanzaic structure—the tragi-comic uncatchability of the mother/Dark Lady.
