Hey y'all!

We have serve this Saturday and could use some help with funds for nonperishables. We purchase these each week for 40+ people so it's our biggest spend consistently.

If you're able to help:
Cashapp $heertoserve
Venmo @heer2serve

You're valid,loved, and matter

I refer to this post like once a week
if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything

Mine:
- also rack and panniers, hell yeah
- YNAB
- being involved in local organizations and a mass socialist organization (this also makes things worse lol but there you have it)
- making lentils more often
- taking printmaking classes at the Cultural Arts Center

Hey Columbus, please keep an eye out for my bike/bag. It was stolen out of my garage and I can’t afford to replace it (nor can I actually replace them - neither this bike or bag are made anymore). The bag was a gift so I’d especially like to recover that one ):

It's never too late! There's still time! And there might not be but you have to act like there is!
people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

Currently, Genshin Impact. Sometimes pizza. Also organizing for a better world with my community and comrades.
I wanna ask my American friends, how do you deal with all this anxiety and tension?

Because if I lived in a place where:

- A single injury or illness could ruin my life financially,
- So many people carried guns in public,
- I could get sued for the tiniest thing,

I think I'd die from stress.

"one in three U.S. teens under the age of 18 have been approached by brands to advertise their products... Two in five (42%) of U.S. teens are also actively earning money online"
digiday.com/marketing/te...
Teen creators jumpstart careers by selling clothes online and getting brand sponsorships
It’s unsurprising that more teenagers aspire to become influencers, given how many grew up watching TikTok stars like Charli D'Amelio and Ariana Greenblatt go from social media to the big screen.

For our end of year holidays special @makingarecord.com joins us to talk about Jonathan Wacks' Powwow Highway (1989), a wonderful look at indigenous identity and a movie in which the only person who says "Merry Christmas" is a villain. www.lostincriterion.com/e/holiday-sp...
Holiday Special 2024: Powwow Highway (1989) | Lost in Criterion
Jonathan Wacks' Powwow Highway (1989) takes a lot of trappings of a holiday road movie, but leaves them behind when needed as we explore the characters and relationship of two Cheyenne men struggling ...

Society has approved of the death of your loved ones “because they can’t afford it…” Why is this not seen as murder?
with all seriousness, do we all start approving of murdering individuals based on their job titles? how would you feel if the public did that to someone you loved?

⚠️Once again, the General Assembly is undermining our right to citizen ballot initiatives.

Giving the AG power to reject ballot initiatives over the title is an attack on our right to propose laws, and will lead to government censoring First Amendment speech.

This has become an area of academic research, that people often mistake the profound discomfort of visible poverty with risk of violent danger
People "Feel Unsafe" Because Visible Poverty Is Everywhere
Media hysteria around “rising crime” works because it touches on something real: a palpable increase in visible human suffering. What matters is how we alleviate that suffering.

"The global economy would screech to a halt. People would not be able to withdraw money, and global supply chains would freeze... Controlling the subsequent chaos and reconnecting the globe through traditional means would take quite some time, and likely many, many lives."
Huh.

We have to talk about how fucking DIFFICULT existence is in the US. Everything is broken - banking, labor, housing, health care. Administrative systems are horrifyingly inept and inefficient.

The one thing Trump keeps saying is “We’re gonna make it easier.” He’s lying, but he *keeps saying it.*
I genuinely don't think I can handle the next four years of New York Times headlines.

This is great, and it's going to serve a lot of people who bike in that part of town, but this path ends just east of the freeway and is unconnected to the one that starts just west of the freeway, and I still think that gap demonstrates that the city is, in the end, basically unserious about this!
