Sometimes known as stringthing - into all the fiber arts, books, and plants.
Unpopular sewing opinion: if you won't read the sewing machine manual you should just sell the machine and find another hobby.

I assembled the parts for the Bear quilt tonight. It feels like it's missing something, but maybe that should happen in the quilting? #quiltsky

Current work in progress update. Each square of this modular brain is 10x10 inches. I’m currently working on 18/30 square. I started it in November 2024.
All improvisational hand embroidery by my own hands 😉 #NeuroArt #SciArt #FiberArt #Embroidery

Happy Birthday to Frederick Douglass who didn’t know his birthday because he was born into slavery so he chose February 14 as his birthday.

I am not in need of advice, merely venting.

This has not been a good week to exist in my body and my pain levels have been just staying around the 4-5 mark regardless of what I do. At this point it affects what I do, how well my brain functions, and my ability to communicate.

Finished jelly roll race quilt. The proportions of these are so weird but I'm really happy with the hand quilting and this is going to live in my car for snuggles and picnics. #quiltsky #sewsky

MPR is full of so many great Minnesotans that I get to be proud of them twice.
hello minnesota and beyond! thank you for your kind messages. it is very weird to be the news when you cover the news. i love this beautiful state and journalism, and i am hopeful for better days. but we will be forever changed bc of the last two months.

Tell me you don't read modern romance without telling me you don't read modern romance.
I love how you can time romances to certain beats. The kiss at exactly 50%. The big breakup at 75-80%. The grand gesture and reconciliation at 95%.

I don't mind predictable and formulaic... as long as the books still have -soul- and aren't paint by numbers.

I think I'm allergic to my office. Just had my first full day at work after being only there for short periods for two weeks and tonight I needed a breathing treatment. Doesn't seem coincidental.

I grew up with men who exclusively went by "Grizz" and "Junebug" - they barely remembered that it was actually Phillip and Emil. But if that person changes gender and not just their name it's apparently too complicated.
Baffled by transphobes insisting that the name on your birth certificate is Your True Name Forever when it was common in my grandparents' generation to just...pick a name you like and use that, nbd. I literally found out both of my grandma's birth certificate first names FROM THEIR OBITUARIES.

A reminder: there is not a single housing market in America—not one city, state, or county—where someone relying on SSI can afford a one-bedroom apartment.

Deaths like these are always preceded by engineered abandonment. Disproportionate homelessness among people with disabilities is no accident.
High rents outpace federal disability payments, leaving many homeless
Supplemental Security Income, a federal program meant to be a financial floor for people unable to work, hasn't kept pace with inflation. Many recipients are homeless, unable to save for an apartment.

Let me tell you a little about why this is so important.

I have a 6yo with multiple top 9 allergies (& mustard...)

We spent a week in Disney in Dec and they are well known for their allergy awareness.

My kid could eat at every restaurant and he said how special it was for him to eat with family.
Hey folks, if you live in Maryland please email your state legislators about HB 181, which supports food allergen disclosure in restaurants.

We have a happy 6yo with multiple top 9 allergies (no advice please) and we want to be safely informed about where and what he can eat.
