Every one of our genres increased in circ this year. Even Westerns. So in an era of "no one is coming into the library" and "circ is down blah blah blah" not mine. People still want things! If we tell them about the things, and make them appealing, people will check them out. Go figure.

My bread this afternoon is an unintentional experiment. Went to add brown rice flour, grabbed sorghum flour, realized it too late and so I have half the brown rice flour the recipe calls for and roughly twice the sorghum flour.

I had some offcuts of the freezer paper so I'm getting some practice and experimentation in for these circles. I'm about to attempt something that may not work but if it does it'll be cool.

After doing some practice last night I've started making the freezer paper templates for my next quilt. Before I actually cut into my nice fabric I bought at FULL PRICE I will use the scraps for more practice. #quiltsky

I read this novella tonight and it was a delight start to finish. @suleikhasnyder.bsky.social packs in a lot of story in her novellas and they never disappoint.

I had cornbread for breakfast (with butter and honey) and I feel very connected to my dad. Not actually connected since he's addicted to drama and riding the high of dropping a cancer diagnosis on Christmas day.

Good morning bluesky for another week of vacation with my kiddo. We're gonna do crafts. Might clean something. Maybe get dressed and hit the library. Riveting stuff.

My favorite thing about Frog and Toad is that it is the story of two men deeply and obviously in love with one another, drawn as a tribute to his lifelong partner by a gay man long before their relationship was socially sanctioned.

Made myself new pajama pants. The pattern is the Style Arc Albie and the fabric is a cotton poplin I got from fabricmart for something like $4 a yard. I also short pajamas from the same pattern and fabric.

Tried to get my kid to watch Star Wars. He laid on top of me and played switch for a while with it on at least, before abandoning me to breathe comfortably and watch the movie alone.

Today is about lounging around, doing crafts, only easy (and necessary) household cleaning tasks, and keeping the not so small human entertained and fed. Right now I'm making quilt blocks and washing laundry and the kid is watching a movie.

The first round of Christmas presents were open by 6:30am and we've been lounging and snacking ever since. Soon we will migrate to the next phase of Christmas.
