I mentioned Mercs: Original Mode as a big influence for Eye of the Commando and I really meant it. My game is almost an homage. But that Original Mode -- a secret game in the Genesis/MegaDrive version of the arcade port -- it was really something! 1/?

making a TON of progress this weekend on catching up my Godot prototype. next up is getting units up to snuff, then movement, then it's all caught up, much more performant (scrolling the map is smooooth) and with 80% less chance of c-suite shenanigans

I'll note that "the last" is at least stretched by one website, because @ocremix.org has been around since 1999 and it just as functional now as it has ever been -- over five thousand pieces of music posted in support of the site's mission to "promote video game music as an art form."

I once made a game with a swingable crowbar as a weapon. The damage was a function of the velocity.
Prev position was initialized to origin, so if the player was standing a few hundred meters away the crowbar would spawn into their hand, calculate its velocity as mach 700, and liquefy the player.

A pleasant person came by during MAGFest with a... stuffed manatesque creature, and after we took some pictures they played Eye of the Commando and whoa wow they really liked it! 😅 Read about all their experiences here:
