This will, of course, never happen. But I do want to note that whatever President Cuckoo Bananas calls it, it is definitely not a dividend.

I think this is a regular side dish in nursing homes, and should never be served elsewhere
The casserole with truly terrible ingredients that everyone adores: medium slab of Velveeta melted with a stick of butter, combined with cooked broccoli in a dish. Cover with crumbled Ritz crackers that have been mixed with melted butter. Bake until edges are bubbly. Horrifying but delicious.

A serious St. Joseph that I probably would have ID’d as a top Cornas had I tasted it blind. Black olives, blackberries and rose petals, long finish. Kicking myself for not getting half a case bc now it’s sold out. #wine

Experience has made me wary of aging any Greek wine past 3 years or so, but this is holding up nicely at 5 years old. Not profound, but a lot of cherry pit and plum flavors, decent acidity and little tannin. Excellent weeknight dinner pour.

Going to go out on a limb and predict that this won’t be well received.

Marvelous Chardonnay, a little oak influence; pineapple, green apple and mango on the nose, nice acidity, only 13% ABV, excellent with a Costco rotisserie chicken and potatoes roasted in sage butter. Close second to Mt. Eden as my favorite California Chardonnay. #wine

FiL complained we’re eating too much pasta lately, so tonight’s dinner: rack of lamb, potatoes roasted in sage butter, green salad (not pictured), and a 2019 Long Island Cab Franc, which was very polished, had a little cigar box aroma and paired well, but I kind of missed the Loire funk. #wine

Roasted vegetable lasagna, an Ina Garten recipe with a lot of liberties taken. Still delicious with a 2020 North Coast Syrah from Jolie Laide. Could have gone Italian here, but hey , the bottle was open #wine #food

My favorite “President not in the WH” story is how between roughly 1875 and 1900, multiple presidents ran the nation for the entire summer from beachfront hotels in Long Branch or Cape May, NJ. With a secretary and a kid running to the telegraph office and back.

Why? Think DC summer without A/C.
Who knew White House was gutted/removated by Truman btwn ‘49 and ‘52?

I did. I’m a nerd. The renovation was necessary cuz it was on the verge of collapse.

It was done w great care and reverence for its historical significance

Victim’s injury caused when he fell or was pushed (unknown) into exposed electrical wiring in basement of fraternity house. Maybe hazing related, maybe not, unclear. Even if not, chapter likely to be shut down for tolerating a dangerous safety hazard.

Opened this Sancerre rouge for dinner with pan roasted pork chops, sweet potatoes and a tomato salad. If I didn’t know it’s a Pinot Noir, I might have guessed from color and earthiness that it was a rogue Cab Franc planting. But finish is cherry rather than cigar tobacco, albeit…

Opened this for chicken I roasted with generous amounts of garlic, lemon and butter. Good choice! Don’t let the screwcap fool you, this is a serious, bone dry Chenin Blanc with notes of tart apple and a creamy texture, and reasonably priced. Buy this instead of yet another Sancerre. #Wine
