When I joined Bluesky I created this account and a second one dedicated to Ontario / Canada: @canadafuture.bsky.social

Turns out I can't be bothered keeping up both, so I'm shifting those follows over here and will close the 2nd account soon.

Expect a little more CanCon here going forward.
I was not expecting Canada to be involved in a penguin welfare controversy in London England, but it turns out every Canadian who has paid into the Canada Pension Plan (which is to say, had a job) is part owner of this.

Nothing like having to take time to fill out the transit company's feedback form to let them know that no, actually, this bus driver was doing a fine job, because you had to listen to an attention-seeking passenger loudly phone in a complaint that the rush hour Express bus wasn't express enough.

Wildlife crossings are a valuable tool in efforts to mitigate a small portion of the harm caused by roads, but they're also an expensive undertaking. That's why I love this story out of Idaho of one man who saw life-saving potential in an abandoned bridge: www.hcn.org/issues/57-11...

Whether it's coal, or oil, or diamonds, or cobalt, we love to fight over resources. Right now, the rush for critical minerals is sparking environmental destruction and human rights abuses. It's sending would-be miners prospecting on the very bottom of the sea, and stoking conflict around the world.

A one-seat Liberal minority with Elizabeth May retaining her seat is the exact scenario I was hoping for back on election night here in Canada, so 🤞
Dimitri Soudas, former Harper comms guy, told RadCan this morning that he's hearing Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux will cross the floor to the Liberals today.

If this happens, the Liberals are one seat short of a majority. You know what that means.

That's right.

Elizabeth May is Kingmaker.

Squirrels, along with many other animals that lack full cheeks to create a strong suction seal, rely on physical principles like the meniscus effect (adhesion & cohesion) & inertia to drink water. They don't lap water in the same way as a dog or cat.

Here, we can see the meniscus effect. #mammals

Well that was a heck of a post-season. It was fun cheering with you, Canada.

(Also, the 50/50 raffle has already made over $23 million for Jays Care, so I guess we can expect a lot more kids to be playing baseball across the country this summer⚾🍁)

We're watching CBS Sunday Morning from here in Canada, as we often do, and I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen a recruitment ad for the US National Guard during a commercial break. I wish it meant people were leaving the service, but sadly I doubt that's the case.
