Freeing up time for productivity FOR THE PEOPLE WHO STILL HAVE FUCKING JOBS omg I hate ai
You’re not unemployed you simply have allowed money to flow to where it can do better work, in many ways you are making the dreams of that money come true. Rather than be used for humdrum things like “food” and “warmth” you have freed it up to focus on “islands of perversion” with the cultural elite
What if the A.I. bubble “is an inevitable part of developing and adopting a revolutionary tool that will fundamentally improve productivity and growth?” Mohamed El-Erian writes.

Opinion | A.I. Is a Bubble. Maybe That’s OK.
Investors’ excitement rightly reflects the potential transformation of the entire economy.

We’ll be there to support the Algorithmic Price Fixing Ban and the Detention Fee Ordinance!
Today Portland City Council will have a final hearing and vote on my Algorithmic Price Fixing Ban!

So grateful for leaders like @agdanrayfield.bsky.social for leading the charge in the courts. Corporations should not be taking advantage of regular people for profit. Affordable rent NOW!

my guard is so far up when I’m job searching. And same for my husband. A recruiter contacted him about a contract job. he was excited about the role but I hate that my first instinct is to not believe it’s real until proven otherwise

(Seems like it was legit tho…..)
*Gets job interview*

*Google company and doesnt see any reviews*

*Tries to findout what company does but a clear description doesnt come up*

*Sees that job is headquartered in Nigeria*

*Cancels interview*

Portlanders are so blessed with @moviemadness.org
We need to bring video stores back. The world was a better place when 9 year old Beth could rent Hellraiser from the guy at the corner store who didn’t bat an eye.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I… cannot get over Matthew Rhy’s performance in The Beast in Me. He deserves awards. So does Claire. Best show I’ve seen on Netflix in a minute.

Yeap. The state of Oregon has this program that will allow you to receive unemployment benefits if you were laid off and likely won’t be able to find new work, foregoing the job search requirements while you get your business off the ground. That’s nice but it gives you no other resources.
Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone and that’s made worse by a culture of hyper individualism and the idea of a “singular” hyper competent founder etc.

after I tried full-freelancing for two years and had a rough time, a person I trusted gently told me how feeelancing isn't for everyone, and they knew of Pulitzer winners who struggled with it too

LinkedIn has an odd idea of what "social impact" means in terms of job filtering. They define it as "Companies committed to supporting social causes and serving communities in need," but then show me jobs from companies like Affirm (consumer debt!) and ... Dropbox?

It seems to me that this issue has increased lately. In an otherwise quiet medical waiting room yesterday, an older man had an audiobook on blast for the entire lobby. And he still held it up to his ear. The hospital gave out little snacks like an airline. Maybe they should give headphones too
My bus driver just called out the people watching videos on speaker and I think we should make him mayor

This is a bummer. I was hopeful Instagram would leave Meta‘s fascist claws, and make me feel better about using it again. Sigh

For a while, we were really trying to figure out how to buy this house we’re in. Ain’t gonna happen tho. I’m trying to make peace with likely being a renter for life, and having to move around.
Donald Trump wants to end the American dream of home ownership. With a 50 year mortgage, most home buyers will never pay off their homes, will remain in debt to the banks and will be forced to work until the day they die.

Starting “The Revolutionary War” now and boy, this thing is choppy

By not starting micro and going macro like the makers usually do makes it hard to focus on the story

Happy with the talking heads thus far, at least
