This makes me extremely happy. I was editor of Current Arch at the time of the dig, I knew theppl+process+permissions it had to go thru. The film was a lazy trope about who archaeologists are + how our work happens. It pissed me off and I’m glad to hear Coogan et al are being hit in the wallet.

Transitioning from someone ‘doing’ to ‘leading’ for people like me (not guided through it by a Board or big org hierarchy) is really tough. I’ve had to search hard and be open to constant learning. The biggest lesson so far is constant vigilance against being instantly ‘othered’ is essential.
