Sometimes game dev (former PlayStation, EA/Maxis, GREE), sometimes artist (Luminosity Pro), current engineering leader (YouTube), always a dad 👨🏻.
This is, as Gen Z might say, cringe. Also, maybe I'm too boomer, but "GOATed with the sauce" sounds a little too close to glazing for comfort.
With deep insight into the culture like this, it’s no surprise how Amazon Game Studios released 100% bangers.
just saw the worst gaming ad ive ever seen

He’s on a mission from God.
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.

Today 200 people of all ages gathered to celebrate the life of game industry legend Tim LeTourneau, who all agreed: Big Iced Tea cared deeply for everyone he knew and worked with, and we miss him dearly.

You know what this means, y'all. There is now legal precedent for all of us to throw sandwiches (in wrapper) at ICE agents, en masse.

It's amazing how the #PSPortal gradually went from weird, barely-useful novelty, to the powerful cloud gaming portable that I wished it was from day 1. It took years, and I hope the streaming library keeps growing, but I'm happy I got this cool (and aesthetical pleasing) device.

It's happening, my Gen-X friends. I told my son about a video I saw, and he educated me that it's AI.
a cartoon character is holding a newspaper that says " old man yells at ais "
Alt: A Simpsons reference where a hand is holding a newspaper clipping, with an image of Grandpa Simpson shaking his fist at the sky. But instead of a cloud in the sky, it's a revolving series of anime images. The headline reads, "OLD MAN YELLS AT AI."

My apologies to Jays fans. The reason they lost is because I was rooting for them. Please forgive me.

Rolled credits on Silent Hill f last night, just in time for Halloween. That ride was worth every penny of the new inflated game prices.

I'm not ready to invest another 30-40 hours for 4 more endings in New Game+, but maybe next Halloween?
a picture of a girl with bunny ears and the words love love love
Alt: A purikura style image of Hinako from Silent Hill f wearing her alt bunny outfit, with ironic bunny stamps and the words "love love love".

I spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to use numerals to spell たすけて (tasukete), then appropriate 3-letter words that use the letter D, before it clicked. IYKYK

Just spent the weekend installing Debian Linux on my desktop, because Windows 10 is sunsetting and my PC doesn't have the hardware to run Windows 11. So instead of buying a whole new computer, I built myself a server. And it's pretty rad. 🤓

Zelda has been sounding the alarm on the dangers of AI for YEARS, long before the technology got to where it is now, because she's:

1) brilliant (go watch Lisa Frankenstein).
2) ridiculously smart.
3) experienced first-hand how fucking WEIRD people are about her Dad.

Speaking of #MortalKombat, I finally found my Raiden art that my school bought off me for $50, hanging in the halls during my 30th HS reunion tour.

How about getting a free credit if you toggle the power switch on top of the Mortal Kombat machine? The hardest part was finding a machine that wasn't enveloped by a crowd with a row of quarters queued up.
I, too, learned from a kid that if you kicked the Frogger coin door hard enough it’d credit up. Though the method I learned was facing away from the machine and hitting it with my heel. Maybe it was the same kid going from town to town in the Midwest teaching kids how to play Frogger for free
I dunno, around 1983 or so, at an arcade in a K-Mart, a kid showed me that a swift kick, not that hard, to the coin door of the Frogger machine added a credit. That's how I broke my toe, but also got the high score on Frogger.

What a time for Pope Francis to pass. I hope he has built positive momentum for the Catholic church, and wasn't just a diamond in the rough. But for now, may he rest in piece.

Maybe GenAI is in its sensationalist tech demo phase, and like media pirating paved the way to streaming media, Ghibli plagiarism will evolve into legitimate tools that help humankind. One can only hope.

Got my access to the (very cool) EGM Digital Archive, and of course the first thing I look up is the Super Mario All-Stars cheat I sent in but didn't get credit for (reprinted word for word). But it's okay, no hard feelings - I know all you guys now anyway! 😂
