This isn't directed at the Madison school district specifically, but so much money gets spent on consultants by governing units and a lot of it is unnecessary or wasteful IMO. Not always, but elected officials need to critically evaluate who they hire.

And those distortions have real material base. If you're 60 years old and 75% of your wealth in your home's value, you don't want housing prices to fall! If you're 29 and looking to buy your first home you do!

If it turns out the Biden admin sat on the Epistein files to protect Bill Clinton and Lawrence Summers...[redacted]
Lawrence Summers is a scumbag who should be shunned wherever he shows his face.
Here's the full Summers email, btw.

Perhaps Fitchburg will be next?
In a near-unanimous vote, the Verona city council decided not to renew its contracts with the technology company, which has come under scrutiny due to data privacy concerns.

Tonight’s vote may have ended the shutdown — but it sent Wisconsin families the bill.

Senate Democrats had a choice: stand firm for working people or cave to political pressure. They chose wrong.

Consistent with a court order, Wisconsin legally loaded FoodShare payments to cards. Now, the Trump Administration has spent the last 48 hours making a last-ditch effort to yank those payments from nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites, including 270,000 kids. It's pathetic.

So much of our economy is powered by scams - seems real bad!
Meta earns $3.5 billion every six months from showing Faceboon and Instagram users 15 billion “higher legal risk” scam ad impressions a day, internal documents state.

That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators
To fine it for running scam ads.

I do think this is true, in that Trump has a certain appeal among casual voters. Trump's policies are bad and create a backlash, if the GOP doesn't benefit from casual Trump voters who are only sort of paying attention, they get swamped.

Just to note, there is a well documented connection between mass in-person protest and election outcomes. I'm looking forward to the academic papers analyzing No Kings in October and turnout today.
No one should ignore or discount the significant effect that all the organizers of the NO KINGS rallies have had on this election night. It is monumental the influence you have had on this night.

it's almost like 2024 was not some sort of permanent demographic reshuffling, but was simply everyone turning against an unpopular president in a shit year for incumbents.
Republicans thought they had a permanent hold over young men. They didn't.
