George Orwell did treat discourse! "George Orwell once ventured that what kept young men going into the coal mines during the interwar years, instead of forming barricades and demanding a better life, was the spread of cheap sweets and electricity, which brought movies and radio to the masses."

I do think this is true, in that Trump has a certain appeal among casual voters. Trump's policies are bad and create a backlash, if the GOP doesn't benefit from casual Trump voters who are only sort of paying attention, they get swamped.

As noted in the painting description, this piece at the Grohmann Museum, "Flax Barn in Laren" (1887) was criticized at the time for accurately depicting child labor, which was widespread but also generally ignored. Feel familiar.

We visited Milwaukee last week and it was great as per usual. One of our stops was the Grohman Museum (an art museum with a focus on labor), which I had never been to.

Is Word grammar check just getting worse? Look at this suggestion substituting 2016 for 2026 is not a grammar thing!

Oh! You mean, the author Bester, not the Psi Cop from Babylon 5.

Another new Verona restaurant. On the next council agenda: Liquor license application for a new restaurant at 507 W Verona Avenue. I've been told it'll include sushi and that they're targeting an opening at the beginning of next year.
