Was just in a furniture store looking for a new living room chair. Barrel. Glider. Small footprint. Was homing in on a nice one when a salesguy happened by & said, "It's a good chair, but you should know it's an American manufacturer" I jumped & made a face and now I'm getting one from 🇲🇽 instead.

“Give us a call when the fever ends,
You used to be the best of friends,
We used to be the best of friends…”

The great Jim Cuddy has written a song for this moment.

What's that they say about history not repeating, but rhyming? Here's our 1888 version PM, quoted in the NY Times cooly saying if the States don't want to trade, we'd still be fine. If you read to the end of the article, some of the Americans in attendance endorsed his words as well!

Who's responsible for giving that goggle-eyed weirdo the confidence to sit up there puffing his chest out at Schiff and thinking he's intimidating? Stare harder, jerkwad. After watching all three of those Senate hearings, I'm really beginning to question my Imposter Syndrome.

Sitting in the Royal Alex in Toronto waiting for Come from Away to begin. You know, the play about that time 38 International flights were diverted to tiny Gander NFLD because there was a terrorist attack in NYC, and the whole town pitched in to help out. Seems like another time.e, now.

On the verge of pulling the plug on Facebook today, but need a way to wrangle all the disparate cousins I've collected over there first. Scrolling through the follows of a FB friend who has migrated here, and holy heck - there are so many familiar screennames from my livejournal days.

I feel so badly for these men, all three in different ratios; at this point, the least, and I mean the very least, we can do for them is to listen.
Hey everyone! The discussion I had with Officers Fanone and Dunn about their thoughts and feelings on the fourth anniversary of Jan 6 attack was so important, that I lifted the paywall. Please take a look, it’s very powerful

I've been doing a deep dive on Dr. Archibald Malloch after coming across the family cairn he had erected in 1897 in Brockville Cemetery. One rabbit hole leading to another, I find that he was a student & friend of Dr. Joseph Lister of "wash your hands before performing surgery!" fame.

About a month ago, I was having coffee with a friend just back from Turkey, where ahe was visiting family, and it suddenly occurred to me, thanks to my increasing anxiety about the then upcoming election in the States, to ask her some questions about 🇹🇷 's before & after times

I'm at least marginally curious to see which cabinet post he's about to tap Hannibal Lector for. Experiential reality doesn't seem particularly important, so maybe HUD?
