The UK govt has announced a 3.6% pay award for nursing staff on Agenda for Change in England - an increase that will be swallowed up by inflation.

Our consultation will open soon for you to tell us what you think.

Only you and your colleagues can decide if it's enough to value nursing.

This seems bad for staff and patients www.businessinsider.com/uber-for-nur... bid to the bottom devalues nursing and suggests that skills and experience aren't important. Also makes it less likely you will end up in the same place multiple times because you're not a name your a box
Nursing has become a new frontier for gig work, and it's creating the same issues that Uber drivers face
Nurses have started to use gig work apps to land shifts at healthcare facilities, a report found. Many are facing similar issues to Uber drivers.

Not that I actually expect much from @thesun.co.uk but if you're going to put a list of recommended gifts at the bottom of the article do make sure they aren't the gifts the article says people hate 🤦‍♀️ www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/324...

Government has the power to improve nursing pay, but right now the UK govt has suggested only funding a 2.8% pay increase for NHS staff in England next year.

We say the PRB process is outdated. It's time for direct negotiations on pay.

As someone with multimorbidity I prefer 'work' to 'burden', it's not always a burden, it's just my life, and actually there are good things. Increased ability to self-advocate. Specialist and personalised knowledge. Resilience. Persistence. Empathy. I wouldn't be the same person without my MM.
Our paper on the impact of living with multiple long-term conditions on everyday life: a qualitative evidence synthesis. The 'work' is not only around medications and healthcare use, it is also emotional & financial with lots of learning & adaptation

Was my first week back to fulltime last week...and I am still exhausted, but back in again tomorrow. Shifts were particularly heavy ones tbh, so think only part of it is about my health. Was in charge with patients on Saturday and Sunday, and Saturday is assessment day so always busy.
