Our 10-15min online, anonymous survey on clinicians’ (and their assistants) and teachers’ views on #GestaltLanguageProcessing is still open.

It will close later in Jan - a month will be up by 20th Jan then we leave it open until responses wind down.

Feel free to share it!

Adults with #Aphasia, we want to know what you think of #VirtualReality. It's appearing more in rehabilitation, but do you like it? Does it work for you? Try it out and let us know! Please share with anyone you know in the Sydney (Australia) area.

Even though recast therapy is great for treating grammar in #DevLangDis, our lab takes a 'kitchen sink' approach when the focus is on something other than the intervention itself. There is growing evidence for explicit approaches. #SLPeeps Do you mix and match? How do you decide which to use when?

2025 will bring some more critical analysis and evaluation of #GLP to inform teaching. My curriculum update is already in progress. Strengthening content on #language, acquisition, communication beyond language, differences between processing and understanding and expression, and more!

The brainstorm is happening. Open to ideas and suggestions.

I'd like to create an #AR choose-your-own-adventure clinical scenario. Some simulation. The possibilities are endless with #AppleVisionPro
So exciting @lucyebryant.bsky.social and I can start on our autoethnography using #AR
- this time #AppleVisionPro

I finished on clinic with another group of wonderful #slp2b this week. They had such diverse experiences of inclusive, multilingual speech and language assessment. We're always looking to enhance our #InclusivePractice. What are your top tips for assessing #multilingual kids, ##BskySPEECHIES?

I'm looking forward to delving deeper into all those other #GLP #NLA sources that aren't treatment research. The books, editorials and tutorials. They weren't included in the sustenance review. They will be included in our meta- narrative review. Coming 2025
We have submitted a Protocol for a Meta-Narrative Review of #GLP #NLA as a logical next step to a systematic review.

We often do two reviews - a systematic one for treatments, and another design to appreciate and analyse the policy, practice, or other literature (that is not treatment studies).

Reminder:
🤔 Lived Experience Research CAN be included in a systematic review *if it exists*.
🎙️ A Systematic Review of the Literature is not a review of people's social media posts and podcasts.

With extensive reading on #GLP #NLA, I kept seeing this stat: 85% of #autistic people use echolalia. That stat comes from a 1960s study that showed only 46% of the study sample (75% of the speaking kids) echoed. Read more: link.springer.com/article/10.1...

So @lucyebryant.bsky.social and I would like to know —- for our narrative review - can you please help us?

⁉️ What “ingredients” of GLP/NLA approach are used in therapy?

⁉️ What outcomes: seen or measured?

We will think on your replies to help us look closely in books for those things.

In a systematic review of #GLP #NLA, qualitative data about lived experience is important, too. Treatment effectiveness matters, but so does the human experience and acceptability of the intervention or support. We didn't find any qualitative evidence either #BskySPEECHIES
Fact - Our systematic review protocol laid out how we would analyse qualitative (ie lived experience) studies. There weren’t any.

Often times a treatment study will add qualitative outcome measures as these give context and richness to what happened re the other outcomes.

It can be hard to find the time to read a systematic review research paper, so why not listen instead. Our podcast on a systematic review of #GestaltLanguageProcessing #NLA out now, and full paper coming soon
We’ve had pleasing indirect feedback on this podcast for explaining the steps of a systematic review - it might help clinicians in other topics do it themselves.

If more clinicians knew how/why, we may see stronger implementation of research-backed therapy.
