The Cabbage Waddles Into The Inspection Lane

If you live in the Detroit area like me, a rather grand piece of engineering has been added to the skyline and is in fact nearly completed and ready, we hope, to open this year. It will be our chance - and Canada's chance - to have a bridge which is not only by a private concern and a chance to get out from under the thumb of the Maroun family, whose house in Grosse Pointe Shores should be razed and turned to parkland honestly, for the good of us all.

Invoking something like the stock market to keep everyone off the subject of a literal cabal of child predators is basically an illustration of "the Epstein Class".
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

It is dystopian (American here). Thanks to almost 40 years of the GOP controlling at least one house of the Michigan Legislature, gun control is....haphazard in this state.

There is an idiot on my street that cleans his garage carrying, like someone is going to steal his 1992 Civic in the drive.
The guns per resident stat for the states is actually shocking to me. I knew they were common but more guns than people feels dystopian

To be fair, the way in which this administration definitely represents the United States is the number of high-salaried people who probably consume Franzia like water.

I always wonder how much people like Posobiec get paid by the administration, as Patel couldn't find a dildo in a room of dildos.

I think about these lyrics today sometimes:

"Twenty-five years ago they spoke out and they broke out
Of recession and oppression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bonfire
Just singing and clapping, man, what the hell happened?"

I have a short piece planned tomorrow - "The Emotional And Philosophical Immaturity Of The U.S. Tourism Industry"

International friends might find it interesting anyway

I think the government of the city of El Paso has been very critical of him too. I would not put such grandiose pettiness past Trump.
All flights to and from El Paso, Texas, have been grounded for ten days for “Special Security Reasons”, the Federal Aviation Administration announced.

Shutting down airspace of a major US city for such an extended period hasn’t happened since the aftermath of 9-11.

First, apologies for the mess - another minor alteration to the kitchen is happening soon.

Second, I am not allowed to use my good cutting board now. Asshole.

The Ambassador Bridge is a rusty piece of shit and a public, jointly-owned bridge is long overdue. The Marouns can take every single girder of this centenarian structure and shove it up their greedy asses.

Actually, Mike Johnson is performing the same sort of hysterical amnesia that used to terrorize Cliff on Cheers whenever he would be within earshot of maybe getting a date - he just forgets everything, name included.
Mike Johnson just claimed (for at least the second time today!) to be ignorant of major news developments that reflect poorly on Trump.

I wish states would not do this. These states know what the problem is - well, problemS plural. That the go-to move here is to advertise discounts and incentives and not actually band together to work on the problem is embarrassing and our neighbors can see it and it will not move the needle.

Even if that is true, it doesn't mean anything unless Graham does it too, and even then, it now would mean very little.

We need to talk more about how the only thing the GOP has left is to keep the rage machine fed, even if they feed it with the stupidest shit imaginable. I think we also need to talk about how, if we are able to fix this, we should ostracize many of our fellow Americans in perpetuity.
The House GOP wants to investigate Bad Bunny because governing is hard and culture‑war theatrics are easy. Every time they launch one of these performative “inquiries,” they remind the country that they’ve traded public service for public spectacle.
