Do you appreciate @nws.noaa.gov's posts on Bluesky?

Did you know that this account is a pilot program that may or may not be continued and even expanded to NWS field offices?

Imagine pretending *anything* more important is going on in Minnesota.
I joined agriculture leaders from across the state today in Mankato for the Minnesota Ag Expo. Minnesota farmers are the backbone of our economy, and we must ensure they have what they need to thrive—strong markets and stable trade policies.

Officially starting a new job Feb. 2nd. Mom's in the hospital with kidney failure again. 9th anniversary of Dad's passing is this week. Trump admin's trying to take us back to our imperial roots while also assaulting and murdering Americans.

And the world keeps turning.

My mom has been in the hospital the past 36 hrs. Her kidneys failed again, but she is recovering quickly and might be out tomorrow or Wednesday.

The Albany Movement started well before MLK, Jr. arrived in Albany on Dec. 15th. Since the summer 1961, students at the local HBCU, Albany State, had been organizing, inspired by the Freedom Riders & frustrated by the Kennedy admin's pulling back on civil rights support.

For more on Mrs. Rutha Mae Harris (I'm from the South, you can't get me not to say Mr., Mrs. ma'am, & sir. I mind my Ps & Qs, sorry not sorry!):

My mom was a teacher & worked for several years w/Mrs. Rutha Mae Harris at Monroe High School, one of the original Freedom Singers. Mrs. Harris would often sing at Black History Month programs in Albany & around the country.

She is 85 now. The past isn't past.

A caveat on my viewpoint: my parents are from Atlanta and were 19yo college students at GA State when MLK, Jr. was assassinated. While I was born in Albany, I wouldn't say my views are necessarily those of the average white person from Albany.
Today, I'm going to do a thread about my hometown, Albany, GA and the Albany Movement, which was an important part of the Civil Rights Movement and a pivotal moment in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s activism. I'll share links along the way for those interested in reading more.

This cannot be reformed.
ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.

The absolute best pho place that was a COVID casualty, Pho and Beyond in Willow Grove, PA. It was in a little strip mall. The biggest, yummiest, cheapest bowls of pho I've ever had. I'd usually get the pho chin (brisket). We never left hungry!
