VOTE DOM TAYLOR ON 19 FEBRUARY IN OUR BY-ELECTION FOR LOWESTOFT TOWN COUNCIL Green Party for the common good Because our town needs • to be safe • to be kept in better shape • to have more to offer for • young people starting out in life • people who've worked hard all their lives o families and community groups enjoying our beautiful coast Dom Taylor already knows many of you as he's lived in Kirkley for years, raising a family. He loves where he lives and the people who live here. His first jobs were in Suffolk factories, and he's worked as a prison officer, in probation, in the Ministry of Justice, and as an actor. He joined the Green Party because it's about fairness, solving problems based on facts and evidence. LOWESTOFT'S PUBLIC SPACES CAN BE IMPROVED with collaboration and determination. CRIME We all know that sometimes Kirkley is not as it should be. Time for a words-are-cheap, tough-on-crime, macho slogan? Not if we want to actually reduce crime. If we want to make the very real people we love actually safer from very real harms, then sadly, a fake pose is totally useless. More simplistic lies = More crime = More victims. HARD-WON EVIDENCE SHOWS Focused problem-solving policing Evidence-based drug diversion interventions Community programmes Environmental improvements Removing blight Fixing buildings Multi-agency working Greening spaces Politicians seeking quick wins have been telling Can all help to reduce crime and the harms it simplistic lies about crime's causes & cures for a very brings. long time, maybe as long as there have been politicians. Let's not fall for it again! Crime can be reduced and communities can and BUT ALL THIS DOES NOT DO ITSELF! do get safer With detailed, careful, intelligent work bringing all relevant agencies and helpful parties together with a common purpose and then sticking with it! It takes collaboration, determination, the ability to bring people together. Dom Taylor has worked collaboratively right across the criminal just… LONG EMPTY SHOPS Can be made suitable for local businesses, so money is reinvested locally. There's already existing legislation to help with this. It just needs someone with the mettle to get on with it. SEAGULLS Should come as no surprise to a seaside town council. Cleaning up droppings is a must. Other seaside towns do it - so can we. MESS Residents strongly agree with Dom Taylor that dog fouling is becoming an increasing problem. There's no reason why we can't deal with this. Other towns and cities do - so can we. High visibility UK-wide campaigns using communication materials from Keep Britain Tidy, and where necessary Public Space Protection HEART? Where is Lowestoft's beating heart? Successful towns have a heart, a recognisable centre; where's ours? Kirkley is perfectly placed to provide Lowestoft with its heart and soul. Dom Taylor wants to galvanise town, district and county council action. When Kirkley succeeds, all of Lowestoft benefits. We want families & friends to be able to enjoy Lowestoft for generations to come. If we take urgent action, they can. In December last year the UK's Town & Country Planning Association policy director came to Lowestoft, because we're the number one UK coastal town at risk of flooding. He said: "Build a flood barrier or move your town." IF YOU ELECT DOM TAYLOR He'll listen to you, work as hard as he can improving and fixing the things you care about. He'll work with every neighbour and community group, every layer of local and national goverment, to do so. He's successfully tackled big, complex issues before. He can help here. Where he lives. It’s been obvious from the outset that the Government needed to review the APR threshold.

It’s baffling that it took 14 months to do so.

Alongside fellow Green MPs and Peers, I have written to the Justice Secretary to express my serious concern about the wellbeing and conditions of the hunger strikers.

Five of the strikers have now been hospitalised - it is clear Lammy must take urgent action to prevent tragedy.
Dear David, We are writing to express our concern about eight prisoners who took action in solidarity with Palestine in August 2024. Amu Gib, Qesser Zuhrah, Heba Muraisi, Jon Cink, Teuta Hoxha, Kamran Ahmed, Muhammad Umer Khalid and Lewie Chiaramello are all being held on remand: none has been convicted. They are all on hunger strike, some since 2 November, in protest at their prolonged pre-trial imprisonment, censorship of communications and alleged mistreatment in custody. We share concerns about the length of time they have been detained without trial. Some of the protestors have already been imprisoned for over a year and we note the assessment by UN human rights experts that terrorism powers were misused to circumvent normal legal protections, with this being a potential cause of excessively long pre-charge detention (ref). We are also worried by reports about their treatment and support the call on you made in Early Day Motion 2386 (ref) to intervene urgently to ensure their treatment is humane and their human rights are upheld. To that end, would you: • ensure the hunger strikers are not denied clinical monitoring or hospital access; • instigate an immediate review of the remand/bail decisions in these cases; • confirm that counter terror powers are not being misapplied to protest activity. These protestors must also be guaranteed their right to a fair trial – the decision since their arrest to proscribe Palestine Action puts this seriously at risk. We would therefore like to know what measures you are putting in place to ensure such a vital cornerstone of our justice system is upheld, both in relation to the charges brought against these specific prisoners and more broadly in relation to offences committed by others acting in solidarity with Palestine. Lastly, we urge you to meet with the families and loved ones of the prisoners on hunger strike – we understand you have not responded yet to representations they have made, and trust you will be o…

Parents & teachers we're speaking to on doorstep for Dec 18 Pakefield by-election say same as Mark.

When you give people hope, they tell you what they value & want back!

Schools being hostile environments for both staff & children, so far-off mutli-academy trust bosses can get the big £, is wrong!

Our kids also need to be taught how to prepare a meal from scratch by people who can cook. It's an essential life skill that goes beyond putting a ready meal in the microwave.
