The number one thing Nintendo and Pokemon discourse has taught me is my parents were right to give me a Mega Drive as my first console because growing up a Sega kid by default meant intuitively learning the Buddhist principle of impermanence with regard to anything I like and I'm healthier for it.

People always cite the reason SMB2J didnt get localized because it was too hard and while Im sure that played into it, it would have been 87 by the time they released it here. What came out that year? Castlevania, Mega Man, Zelda, Metroid, Punch-Out. SMB2J would have been incredibly dated by then.

Theres not a lot of good opportunities to learn how to write music in your life. If you take piano classes or some middle school band class they only teach you how to play an instrument. Even people I know who took college courses still cant really write if they didnt already know how to.

The amount of times people have tried to remake mother 1 kinda bugs me. It feels less like "were doing it out of love for this game" and more like "we think this game sucks and we feel like we need to make a better version of it."

I like older jrpgs because I get really overwhelmed online a lot. It feels like everythings demanding my attention from everywhere and Im constantly being exposed to everything all at once. 8bit rpgs can be monotonous and kinda boring sometimes and I like that. Its relaxing and clears up my brain.
