I had such a good time with all 3. I've seen people knock Sega Touring Car for the controls but its also fun once you get used to it, and has an insane soundtrack.

The flip side is sometimes finding myself trying to optimise something that already works well. It was fun though, so I guess there was some point?

Whenever I used an engine it felt like I was being less thoughtful about the design. I was dropping in an effect or mechanic without taking the time to understand why it should be in my game.

If you have to implement it yourself you think about it more, and also go off on interesting tangents.
