“I was deeply immersed in NYC's jazz scene and the elegance, language, and culture of the 1930s, learning much about the era through small details and author's notes. On top of that, it’s a great plot-twister and would make an excellent…”

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

Every day I wonder how I can get any angrier. I have several hardworking, self sacrificing nurses in my family.
“The Department of Education said what now? Nursing is ‘no longer a professional degree’? Tell that to the nurses who kept this country alive while half of Washington was playing political cosplay.

I need sunglasses to drive at night because vehicles’ rear lights blind me. It’s relentless NYC.
I wish we, like, regulated shit nowadays. Between car bloat, blinding headlines, and neighbourhoods packed with rental suites but no on-property parking, driving is an absolute nightmare now.
Nearly all drivers say vehicles' lights are too bright in study
The study, commissioned by the Department for Transport, was completed by Berkshire's TRL.

Most of us have no idea how bad it is inside ICE detention centers because they have kept it hidden. Then a truth teller shows up and says it plain.

The conditions are filthy. The treatment is inhumane. The abuse is Systematic and routine.

I’m still struggling with the fact that ICE “brown shirts” went to a taco shop and thought they would get served.

F that!

NOT @schumer.senate.gov
AOC: "It is unconscionable that what we are debating right now is legislation that will give 8 senators over $1 million a piece & we're robbing people of their food assistance & healthcare to pay for it. How can we vote to enrich ourselves by stealing from the American people?"

When I was pregnant, I tried to eat well, stay healthy & protect myself from undue stress because the baby could be affected.

For this reason, ICE had a long time policy not to detain pregnant people.

But now they are detaining them, brutalizing them & denying medical attention.

As a public defender, I watched everyday people lose privacy without notice or recourse. If privacy matters, it must protect the public—not powerful politicians who backed an attempted coup. The Senate passed this. Pressure the House to strip it. Call your rep now.

Someone please explain to me how will a vote NEXT month on ACA Subsidies work? Rates are out and up enormously. Will there be a special enrollment period if the subsidies are continued? I mean this is ALL hypothetical anyway, because does anyone really believe that there will be a vote on this? SAD!

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Can you call Chuck Schumer right now? No matter where you live, can you take a few minutes and tell Schumer that if Senate Democrats cave you will not support Senate Dems as long as he is leader?
