I mostly post about vintage knitting and vintage yarn. I am chronically ill, currently housebound with ME and many other things, politically left, Dalmatian owner, Australian
My horror for #showmeyourknits is a 60+ yo baby blanket I was asked to fix. The more I looked at it the more holes I found. I’m still learning to mend and, while I think I’m pretty good at mending stocking stitch, garter stitch and ribbing still do my head in! Please excuse the wonky bits 🤭🧶

#showmeyourknits #socktober I made these @susancrawfordvint.bsky.social socks for my lovely sister. She loves rust and mustard tones so I knew I had to make her something with this lovely vintage mustard sock yarn I found 🧶

#showmeyourknits this week is care and joy so I’d like to shout out ‘Knit for a unique fit’ who match up people who have limb differences with knitters who then make them tailored gloves. I made these gloves for a very cute toddler who loves pink and rainbows. 🧶

I made this DK Distance scarf and matching gloves a year ago for a colleague who was moving to Europe to study. As she was going to be travelling around a fair bit I thought a mini scarf would keep her warm and be easy to pack #showmeyourknits #knitsky 🧶

My pet also wanted to be a part of my Gaskell photo shoot, @louloucan.bsky.social! I’m just starting the first sleeve, so I’m hopeful I might still get it done for Rhinebeck! Pattern by @susancrawfordvint.bsky.social; yarn by @yarnnouveau.bsky.social (it’s a bit darker in real life)

She’s already had a nibble on the pattern cover & now she’s eyeing up my WIP for chewability 🐶
#showmeyourknits #WIP cable cardigan in 1960s #vintageyarn I’m making this a little longer than the pattern & will probably add a belt. #dalmatian #knitsky

I’ve previously shared the WIP of this 1960s jumper that I made my sister, so I thought I’d share a pic of the FO for sweater week #showmeyourknits Luckily I got it finished well before the cold weather ended and it’s been keeping her toasty warm for weeks #vintageyarn #skyknits 🧶 #1960s

#showmeyourknits baby knits week - I made this one for a toddler who loves the water. It's his mum's favourite jumper and she's already sent it back once for repairs when he spilled curry down the front. I always include a lifetime guarantee when I give someone a knitted present 😄

I've just opened a very exciting package - 6 oz of Patons Netta. This yarn was only produced between 1939 & 1951, so I'm assuming that it is 1940s #vintageyarn #vintageknitting #patonsaustralia #1940s

I like prompt games like #showmeyourknits and #crochetaway,
but I'm missing one for #sewing. So I'm starting my own game.
Let's #sewandtell 🧵
For the first week, we start with something first.
Can be your very frist sewing or maybe the first time you mastered a difficult technic ...

Lots of illnesses leave people feeling as though they’re suffocating inside a failing body but I think the worst aspect of #ME is to be suffering so much+THEN to be given disabling advice that can also kill you
Discovering care+support have vanished +been replaced with abuse+neglect is terrifying

Its stripes week for #showmeyourknits - this is the Joanie Sweater by Poinson Grrls made mostly in Susan Crawford Vintage yarn. It's a very cute pattern with a boat neck and a cable that runs along the raglan, under the arm and down the sleeve and body #knitsky 🧶

I love using up every last bit of yarn so #showmeyourknits scraps week feels like it was made for me! Here is a Boardwalk Blouse&a pair of Doris Lee Mitts that I made from scraps of Wollmeise yarn left over from 2 cardigans #knitsky 🧶 They are a little crumpled from storage as we are mid winter here

It was hard to choose for #showmeyourknits this week - I have made so many blue things lately! This is Susan Crawford’s Bobby jumper made in a mix of #vintageyarn and SCV yarn. The main colour is a 1950s Patons Australia ‘Highland Sports Tweed’ which is heathered with flecks of yellow and red. 🧶

For #showmeyourknits #WIP week, I'm still working on the 1960s jumper for my sister. I've just started the second sleeve, this one should go much faster now that I'm familiar with the pattern. Then I have to tackle that giant ribbed roll collar! #vintageknitting #vintageyarn 🧶

I had to rack my brain for #showmeyourknits #garterstitch week! It took me while to think of something, then I realised I had a jumper I made this year that qualified. 1980s #vintagepattern for a child’s jumper made from 70s #vintageyarn with a stocking stitch shoulder saddle #skyknits 🧶

I don’t knit with yellow a lot, but I really did love making this cute Entrechat cardi for my new little neighbour. She looked so cute in it too! #showmeyourknits #knitsky 🧶

It’s not just ‘chronic fatigue’: ME/CFS is much more than being tired
A growing body of scientific evidence shows myalgic encephalomyelitis chronic fatigue syndrome – or ME/CFS – is a biological illness, not a psychological one.

A few days late for #wkip2025 but I really dont get out much 🤭 Today I had a medical visit planned & while we were out my SO drove me to Summer Hill where there are lots of choices for great coffee. I pulled out my 🧶 while I waited in the car for him to grab me a coffee & cake #showmeyourknits ☕️ 🍰

Learning about myalgic encephalomyelitis really changed me. The full depth of suffering associated with this horrific illness is right out in the open for anyone to read about and/or to develop themselves, and our society seems to have decided to address the problem solely by stigmatising patients

It's cowl week for #showmeyourknits
This self drafted cowl is a few years old, but it's still a favourite. I originally made one as a gift for a colleague who was moving to 🥶 Canberra, but i liked so much I made another for myself. Its designed to be full enough to double as a hood 🧶 #knitsky

It’s #WIP week for #showmeyourknits This week I’m working on a jumper for my M-I-L’s birthday. The clock is ticking and I only have a week to finish it. Wish me luck! The pattern is by Vetus Stercore & I’m making it in a 4ply #vintageyarn from the 60s Patons Nylette, an 80/20 wool & nylon blend 🧶

Does anyone on here make their own granola?

I used to make a lovely nutty one with dried cherries & stem ginger but can no longer find the recipe!

Any good, nutty recipes out there?

Fable Knits ‘Alley Jumper’ in La Bien Aimee Corrie Worsted, the colour is Madeleine, a vibrant violet that I struggled to capture in my dark old house. I got this yarn in London in 2023 during my last trip before I became housebound so it has lovely memories attached 🧶 #showmeyourknits #knitsky

Its cardigan week! Who doesn’t love a nice cardi? Seeing it’s Mothers Day today as well, I thought I’d post this one that I made last year for my mum. It’s 90s yarn, a 50s pattern and vintage buttons and braid #showmeyourknits #skyknits #vintageknit #vintageyarn 🧶
