It's #DyingMattersWeek

We're all going to do it. Shouldn't we get our minds around what to expect?

Here's a 3 min guide. If you like it, please share it.

Dying for Beginners | Dr Kathryn Mannix
In modern British society, death is out of sight and behind closed doors. Many of us lack direct exposure to the dying process - with all sorts of potential emotional and spiritual consequences for how we grieve our loved ones, as well as how we prepare for our own deaths. What does the dying process actually look like? A short animation by Emily Downe, and voiced by Dr Kathryn Mannix which guides you gently on a step by step journey through the process of dying. Acclaimed author, speaker and former palliative care physician Dr Kathryn Mannix has spent her medical career working with people who have incurable, advanced illnesses. The author of two Sunday Times Bestsellers – With The End in Mind and Listen, Dr Mannix is on a mission to reclaim the public’s understanding of dying. Pure, nonsensical cruelty from the DWP. For 6 years, without telling her, they let this mother unknowingly earn 83p-£1.92p per week too much as a dinner lady while juggling caring for her son with severe autism. Then they slammed her with a bill for £10k. Vile. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
Mother of autistic boy left with £10,000 debt after breaching DWP rules by £1.92 a week
Over five-year period Oksana Shahar – who cares for her son – was paid a small amount more than carer’s allowance earnings limits allow

The BBC is institutionally biased towards the right and the far right, and here's the proof: the results of an almost perfect before-and-after experiment.

The news can feel like an overwhelming storm, but what if you stepped away from the shock? Breathe. Walk. Pray. Share a meal. Ground yourself in love and community. The work of justice and hope needs not just action, but a steady, rooted spirit. What keeps you grounded? #BeUmc #Rooted #grounded

I went for a pizza with a woman who works as a consultant for UNAIDS: she said that it was estimated that 6 million people would die directly as a result of USAID & PEPFAR being cut. 6 million. So evil.

Throughout his pontificate, Pope Francis has ended every address with an ask: “Please, do not forget to pray for me, not against me. Sometimes he adds: “This job isn’t easy.” Other times he says: “If you’re not the praying type then send good vibes.” Today, we honor his requests. 🙏

🧵/ I agonised over whether to write this Sunday Times piece.

Whipped-up emotion, hate & vitriol now dominate discussions of assisted dying on here - appallingly.

We have to be able to converse in good faith - & concerns should not be dismissed as "noise". (1/n)
