What's the growth been like on Bluesky in the last couple months? I've been offline for a while, but am rooting for it

no one talks about how buying a watermelon is one of the most luxurious things someone in their 20s can do

i've been out for a while - how's the diversity on here at this point? woke-only or ...?

interesting point, how did people jump social groups before twitter?
I've also heard some ppl suggest we only have difficult context-heavy conversations IRL.... imo this would be net negative in that it would exclude all the less socially connected from the conversation bec they aren't invited to the right parties and ice cream socials

I'm much nicer to Claude because Claude is much nicer to me (compared to ChatGPT)

How much faster could a team of superintelligences colonize the solar system than a team of human intelligences?
yes, bingo. although not so sure about how long it'll take? could be *much* faster with more IQ & less regulation in my mind; every story i've read from SpaceX seems to just be dumb mistakes & regulation slowing them down

Assume no constraints, what do you need materially to be satisfied?
E.g. for me I'd like probably like to:

1. Fly first class supersonic ~50 times per year
2. Live in a 8br tree-house near the water in a mediterranean climate (with family)
3. Own 2 self-driving flying cars
4. Have daily cleaning, etc.
5. Freedom from all disease & pain (same for family)

Assume free labor - what % of the earths resources / land do you need to own to have X lifestyle?
Imagine the price of labor is about to go to $0 in a few years... is it:

a) the time to spend all your money (because everything will be free soon)

b) the time to accumulate as much capital as possible (because you'll have no way to get more after labor goes to $0)

???

what an incredible essay! helped me understand some things. cameron is one of my favorite social-life systems-thinkers
keeping secrets is a virtue (a rough outline of an essay)

- secrets are a kind of currency that you barter
- you can barter with others and with yourself
- secrets are part of the gift economy in this way

Huh. That means I'm now down to 0.56% of Bluesky following me. I used to hover around 0.6% (which was already embarrassingly far from 1%)

Can we all help fix this? Tell your friends about me! 😊

I've had short AI timelines for so so many years, and still I've never known what to do based on that information. I still don't. The singularity is near, and the event horizon is impenetrable.

Personally, what are you doing/feel about this? Are you nervous? Excited? Indifferent? I'm really curious

You don't understand what's about to happen 🤯 We're almost guaranteed to have a end-to-end coding + vision model (GPT-4-vision) with a 32k context length, sometime later this year

Give it a Next.js repo, a task, and 4 commands:

1. Open file
2. Modify code
3. Build
4. View localhost:3000 in browser

i usually just listen to one album on repeat, lately it's Dirt Femme (Stripped) by Tove Lo.

i think it's just an acoustic rerecording but it's so much better (and the original was already very good)
