The public block lists on Bluesky are one of the worst ideas ever introduced. Whoever created and keeps maintaining them is just fueling the exodus of users who are tired of the platform’s hostility. It’s driving people away, not keeping them safe.

Not always. I might dislike how something was written, not the topic itself. I don’t want to live in a bubble where every post agrees with me—different views make social media worth it.

🌤️✨ On 04/20/23 — just 9 days after I joined Bluesky — I dropped the word Skymates to describe fellow users.
Probably didn’t invent it, but I definitely used it a lot in my posts 😁
Not followers. Not mutuals. Skymates.
Still proud of that little spark.

When Bsky had 30k users, one of my posts pulled 12+ likes. Now with 40M users, 10 posts can’t scrape 10 likes. Either I’ve forgotten how to post… or I’ve officially unlocked irrelevance mode. 😂🤦🏻♂️ #bourbonTalks 🥃

One of Bluesky’s best ideas was domain verification. Then they created the Bluesky Badge. Now new users get it overnight, while those who backed Bsky when it had only 10k users are ignored. Does the badge matter? No. The point: who’s valued—pioneers or newcomers?

Almost 40 million. A lot has changed at Bsky. I miss the good old days, when we had only 30,000 users. The only way is to fill my glass and keep reminiscing about the good times. 🥃🦋

I miss those nights when I’d step away from coding, pour myself a bourbon, and spin up AI images inspired by songs my followers requested. Every round brought me 10 fresh blocks. Simpler times, better vibes.
