Science and logic rock!

A tiny blue dot in a red state.

Did not uproot myself half way across the planet for this, yet here we are.

When things go sideways, I hope we end up in the same camp for emotional support purposes.

May we all have the passion, strength, and resolve of Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Rest in power, sir. 💙
Reverend Jesse Jackson was one of America’s greatest patriots. He spent his life summoning all of us to fulfill the promise of America and building the coalitions to make that promise real.

Important 🧵
Minority party cannot magically fix what the majority party breaks. We have to give the democratic elected officials tools, i.e. obtain majority at midterm, if we want to restore checks and balances, and hopefully get out of the current existential crisis caused by the republicans.
I’m turning this into a consecutive 🧵 to make it easier to show people who are being bamboozled by the current ICE funding being debated:

The current funding is a pitiful drop in the $183 mil per month ICE *already* is guaranteed through 2029. Republicans are banking on you not knowing that.

🧵:
This is not accurate. The ICE funding is ALREADY paid out from the Big Ugly Bill that NO DEMOCRATS VOTED FOR through 2029–ICE gets 183 *million* per month already regardless of any new bills currently in Congress & this was entirely on the Republicans.

The current bill is so GOP can make you mad.

⬇️ Minority cannot magically fix what the majority breaks, and no, people should not ask minority to break laws just because majority is lawless, either.
This is the message.⬇️

PLEASE teach ppl to teach ppl that yelling at Dems for not being able to magically change math & the “no guardrails” 2024 election results…

when the blame is the REPUBLICAN MAJORITY…

*incentivizes* Republicans to let ICE murder & Trump plunder.

You’re making them happier.
Pritzker: "The GOP is nowhere to be found. They're the ones that scream and yell about 'federal tyranny' about interference with states' rights. And now, their president is violating states' rights and attacking our states and Republicans are nowhere to be found to talk about it."
January 25, 2026 at 12:53 AM
This is the correct take. You cannot only yell at minority for not magically fixing what the majority breaks, and you cannot ask minority to break laws, either.
This. A handful of Americans have the power to stop this NOW, and they are refusing to.
His death is caused by one man and his Republican collaborators. Republicans in Congress could stop this today. Call your Senators today www.5calls.org #DefundICE

People need to understand the Herculean efforts required for minority democratic representatives to push through this bill, which will literally save lives. 💙

Both sides are not the same. Our job is to vote straight blue at every election for the foreseeable future.

I keep thinking about the Buddhist monks walking for peace — step by step — from Texas toward Washington, DC.

“The American worker is not red or blue. Not white or Black or Latino. Not rural or urban. The American worker is all of us. And if we ever say that out loud at the same time, God help the people who profit from keeping us apart. We will overcome them.”
By Christopher Webb and David Yankovich
I feel this in my bones…

THE AMERICAN WORKER IS ALL OF US. Black, white, Latino, Asian, Native, immigrant, union or not. Not the “working class” stereotype.

We built this country. We keep it running. Stop dividing. Start recognizing.

I went to my first ICE watch yesterday and was surprised by how kind and community-centered it felt.

PIRC (@pirc_oregon) runs free ICE watch training in Portland. Once trained, you’ll get text alerts so you can show up when ICE is sighted.

Sometimes just showing up is enough.

This is the history that needs to repeat itself.
Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.
