I'm fortunate as my dog is registered with an independent vets that refuse to sell out. However majority are now taken by the big corp's, many independent vets books are full. The industry needs desperately needs looking at.
Curse of private equity.

UK vets may have to publish prices of common pet treatments.

That won't stop rip-off charges and unnecessary treatments.

Must break-up local monopolies, have not-for-profit vets, control prices, boycott greedy vets.
Vets may have to publish prices of common treatments in government plans
The government sets out proposals as data finds vet prices rose at nearly twice the inflation rate.

Now in full swing of the #fireworks season. On the 5th the airambulance appeared not to be able to land as fireworks continued. 2 18 yr old lads were throwing lite fireworks to catch. An eye and fingers lost with facial damage. Why does the UK allow the public to buy explosives?

Plastic left on beaches after visitors go home is shocking. A lot of it toys, crab nets, buckets and spades are left by families then washed out to sea. Lots if plastic nets dumped at sea. Plastics kills wildlife and marine life. Humans land up eating microscopic bits from sea food.
11-year-old wildlife campaigner Amaya Edwards saw a seal killed by a flying ring.

Now she’s leading a campaign to ban them from beaches, and she won’t stop until real change happens.
The danger of flying rings to seals: a young campaigner’s advice

Labour contemplating extending the state pension age into the early 70's. A way of fading it out, taking our money and an early death in poverty? Triple lock on verge of going, lowest state pension in Europe, high cost of living, misery in old age for the low paid.
Almost half of UK working-age adults not paying into a private pension.

Govts have created insecurity - low wages, unchecked profiteering, squashed dream of buying a home, unloaded public debt to households (student debt).

Too many just surviving.

Need equitable distribution of income/wealth.

Turnberry in Ayrshire would be a perfect spot for wind turbines.
Maybe someone could explain to the US President the difference between windmills and turbines. And why we need the latter in Scotland.

England could face water shortages within a decade.

Since 1989 population, homes increased - 25 reservoirs sold off, no new ones, no desalination plants, 1 trillion liters of water a year lost to leaks.

Companies borrowed to pay dividends. No forward planning.

Disaster made by privatisation.
Government fast-tracks new reservoirs to secure water supply
Changes to planning laws could speed up projects, but experts warn water consumption will also need limiting.

The EU is on the UK's doorstep. It has higher welfare standards and a lower carbon foot print than the US. So why on earth is Labour seeking out US trade?
The U.S. and Britain announced a trade deal last week that will create a $5 billion export opportunity for U.S. beef and other products in Britain. But British consumers remain skeptical of U.S. food production, recoiling from the thought of hormone-treated beef or chlorine-washed chicken.

Don't get Labour's nuclear power support either. It's backward.
Why go nuclear?

We can do so much better, not just for bills and the climate but the environment too.

I’m an environmentalist first… business is a means to an end: a fairer, more sustainable world - that’s the right legacy to leave - not deadly nuclear waste.

Landowners/managers breed grouse to be slaughtered by people with too much money. They don't eat the grouse just dig a big pit and bury them. The vast acres of heather that look stunning in August deny other native wildlife from their natural habitat.
Petition: Ban driven grouse shooting
