Lina Khan stans we are SO BACK
For those who don’t know, Lina Khan gave tech bros hell AND her ass to kiss when she was FTC chair. She was busting monopolies left and right. Gave Amazon and Meta the finger too.

This is an EXCELLENT addition to his team.
Khan's appointment sends a message to the tech industry, whose most powerful players have already been critical of Mamdani, a Democratic socialist.

One way that anti-feminism has been conceptually collapsed into a stand-in for all other political grievances is through the feminization of the state, which is cast as a scolding mommy for doing things like requiring milk pasteurization.
he goes on and on about the “feminization” of society and a “maternal surveillance system” and it’s like, are you mad your mom told you to clean your room once?

A high-profile network of investors and founders in Silicon Valley are promoting a new moral vision for the tech industry, in which job choices and other decisions are guided not by the pursuit of wealth, but according to Christian values.

Here's what that looks like with @laurengoode.bsky.social:

i’m stealing from @mtsw.bsky.social here, but we are seeing — on the national level — a very common red state dynamic. republicans tanking the economy and destroying the most dynamic sectors in order to *produce* a brain drain

I mean...I have to google and double check that I'm thinking of a different guy every time he crosses one of my feeds. But maybe that's just me.
Frankly, it’s been strangely comforting to realize that we’re finally at a point when Doug Ford can spent a few weeks on the American radar without anyone asking “Hey, didn’t this guy used to do crack or something?”

They should resign, and the very public resignation letter should read “I have no intention of lying about our journalism in order to provide Paramount with a pretext for paying Donald Trump a bribe.” Which is transparently what this is.
Scoop: Incoming Paramount boss Jeff Shell has made it clear to CBS News chief Wendy McMahon and "60 Minutes" boss Bill Owens that they need to get on board with Trump settlement and possible admission of wrongdoing—something sure to raise questions of gun-jumping. www.status.news/p/paramount-...

I kind of want the National Weather Service to stop issuing daily forecasts *now,* at the first big wave of cuts, instead of cobbling together a doomed, faulty, jalopy service, that will be easier to cut later.

Lots of systems depend on those forecasts. They need to feel what cuts mean.

This is an important point. I already see people quavering over “I have a meeting with the DOGE team,” or “DOGE has asked for this data.”

“Is this coming from *the Secretary?* Can I get in writing that it’s coming from *The Secretary?* *The Secretary* is directing this?” are all valid questions.
I think it's bad that they're attempting to create what functionally amounts to a dual power structure of political commissars who have power over congressionally approved heads of federal agencies if I'm being for real with you guys.
Musk power grab: the EO Trump signed today puts Musk's DOGE mostly in charge of developing massive downsizing plans for federal agencies, and explicitly gives DOGE approval authority over "all" hiring into career civil service positions
