Every. Single. Story. about women not using AI as much as men portray it as bad for their future career prospects (without a shred of evidence) and a result of women being fearful little ladies rather than looking at AI's output and saying "this sucks, it's not going to help me."
For women, the increase of AI use in the workplace may affect their careers: Harvard study
Women are using AI significantly less then men and it’s going to have a major impact on their careers, according to extensive research on the topic.

**Libraries & Mental Health Survey**

I'm updating my research and subsequent talks related to mental health in the library. I'd love insight from library workers of all backgrounds + experiences, and I've got a handy survey. Please take & share widely. Thank you!

With passage of the Big Bill, it is worth noting that this is the largest rollback in health coverage in history.

To date since WWII, and since the passsge of Medicare, Medicaid and ACA generally all legislation EXPANDED coverage, but this is the largest RETRACTION in health insurance coverage ever

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Wisconsin 😭
The TL;DR:
With milder winters in some regions, ticks are active longer, spread further & have more chance to bite humans. Lyme disease has gone from a regional issue for people in Pennsylvania and adjacent regions to covering 1/3rd of the company.

Seems like a terrible time to defund the CDC.

I'm still not over yesterday's obscene SCOTUS decision that our government can deport people to prisons in countries they're not from. How is anyone walking around going about their day?

“The group estimated that reducing the operating budget by $900 million, as the Trump administration wants to do, would require closing 350 of the 433 parks, monuments, historic sites and other locations overseen by the Park Service… we would be witnessing the dismantling of a century-old system”

Here is actually what is happening: braindead management is pushing AI wherever it can, launching it, laying off some people, then realising it can't replace them, then hiring back *less* people than before. AI is used as a soft layoff excuse to dress up flagging growth.

This news came out last night and I’m not sure how widely it’s been reported so here it is again: 5th circuit court rules patrons have no first amendment right to information (aka “freedom to read”). This directly contradicts well established precedent.

There's no excuse for a phrase like "smuggling in food" to be an intelligible one anywhere in the world. Starving a population to death is genocide.
I don't think people are really grasping this. The only food in Gaza at this point is what's bring smuggled in. And I'm going to say basic food stuff shouldn't be a black market item. They're not sneaking in casu martzu they're smuggling in flour.

Solid thread on how to fight feeling isolated.
Some of the best advice I’ve gotten as a man boils down to this:

Stop beating yourself (and others) up just because YOU don’t feel good about YOU. It’s completely normal to feel isolated in a world this chaotic. 🧵

I think the suggestion that any kind of human-to-human interaction should be replaced with human-to-chatbot interaction should be scrutinized as a kind of moral rot. It’s antisocial ideology and should be treated as such
