The pieces in my jigsaw were never made to fit,
I waste my time pretending I can do it.
New N64 pickup!

Bakushō Jinsei 64: Mezase! Resort Ō, a boardgame for the N64. Supposedly it's unplayable unless you understand Japanese, but it was cheap and I had to get it for the box-art alone!

Sent from Japan in nothing more than a padded envelope, lucky it arrived undamaged.

Not enough people are talking about the fact that there's an Amstrad PC in Taylor Swift's latest music video.

My first time spotting an Analogue 3D in the wild. Someone traded this in pretty quickly...

I already have multiple, modded N64s, so not feeling at all tempted by this.

My first retro pickups of year!

My 2025 was all about the Sega Saturn, so for 2026 my plan is to focus on the Nintendo 64. I need to correct the injustice that I own more physical games for the PS3 than any other system...

Nearly 18 years later and one of my Beautiful Katamari high scores is still sat in the top 50 of the leaderboards. 🤯

Well done for hanging in there all these years Foomin. 🫡

They say "start as you mean to go on", so I saw in 2026 whilst playing Hyrule Warriors on Wii U. 😎

I'm not planning a full-time return to socials anytime soon, but will wish everyone here a Happy New Year. 🎇

Stay safe. 🙂

Tetris Worlds (PS2)

The beginnings of the Tetris Guidelines and the standardisation of all Tetris games...

Some nice modes here, it controls well and looks the part, but it falls flat for me because there's no proper endless mode and everything is against the clock. ⏱️🙁

Yay! This one's certainly been a long time coming... 😂

This is jumping straight to the "next up" position on my handheld "to play" list, I'll be putting some batteries on charge for my GBA. 😁 Seems like the perfect summer game!

One of the lesser told Tetris stories is that of Vladimir Pokhilko, who worked with Alexey Pajitnov on the game and later co-created Hatris.

This is a three part documentary from Discovery that challenges the established narrative that he murdered his whole family before killing himself.

Just realised that the rumble on my original Wii Remote from 2006 isn't working. Occasionally if I shake the remote it'll kick in, but more often than not there's nothing.

Hopefully it's something as simple as the motor needing lubricating. I think I need to open it up and have a look!

Is it possible to name something good about Star Wars Episode 1?

#RandomGameSaturday responds with Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. Essentially Wipeout IN SPACE!! 😁

A pick from my PS2 shelf this #RandomGameSaturday: Crimson Sea 2, essentially Dynasty Warriors IN SPACE!! 😅

Notably a PS2-exclusive sequel to an Xbox-exclusive original game, development switched to Sony after Xbox sales in Japan failed to impress.

Fun combo of sword and gunplay, but pretty tough!

My very first upscaler.

This wasn't used for gaming, but for deinterlacing DVDs on a 480p/576p capable CRT TV in the early 2000s. I'm curious as to how much lag it introduces and what uses it might have as a gaming device though. Might be fun to test it out... 🤔😁

Name five games you'd play at any time. Not your top 5 of all time, just five games you'd play any time.

Pikmin (GCN)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
Lemmings (GB)
Burnout (GCN)
Katamari Damacy (PS2)

We've also got a gaming hardware anniversary today, too: the Virtual Boy's 30th.

Nintendo must have seemed pretty infallible by '95. And now, virtual reality? 🔥

Nintendo's lowest-selling console, selling just 770k.

Any fans of it out there? What's it like to use, if you've tried or had/have one?
