Going back to Mexico today where we’ve permanent residency. It’s a modern country with a female president and reproductive rights for women.
Today we got up early to tour the Pantheon Belén, the cemetery where the Cuervo and Sauza families are buried along with many other Jalisco historical figures. The tour was promised in English but was actually in Spanish so we had to pay attention and/or ask our tapatío friends to translate.

Smart move Donald! This will definitely keep the Epstein files out of the news.

It’s a holiday today, Constitution Day *and* Candlemas, so we’re eating tamales for breakfast before going to game 3 of the Caribbean World Series. Both Mexican teams lost yesterday while the Dominican Republic team won. We’re seeing the Dominican team play against Puerto Rico today. #groundhogday

A couple of photos from our last art event today (it’s actually just “art weekend”). Had a lovely outing viewing the exhibits and then having free drinks provided by one of the show sponsors in a very nice restaurant space across the plaza. Next week is the Serie de Caribe - the games start today!

Here’s a couple of pieces from art week. We made it to 5 art shows last night. Today we’re meeting friends for brunch and then going to see Marty Supreme at the movie theater in English with Spanish subtitles. We’re binge watching as many movies as we can before this year’s Oscars. #lifeinMexico

Sergio Romo is going to throw out the first ball at the second game of the Serie de Caribe on Feb 1. Unfortunately, our tickets are for Feb 2!

Shared this with the hubs who's perseverating over a comment made to him by a friend.
Me: You're overthinking this.
Him: Is that a bad thing?

Art week has started here in Guadalajara and we attended our first event last night. Today we're taking a close friend to lunch at a Chinese restaurant for his birthday, and this evening we're going to a spring roll pop-up party where guests will roll their own. We'll get back to the art tomorrow.

This Song Kills Fascists
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

This evenjng we’re meeting friends for drinks at this lively new bar on the rooftop of an art gallery. Wednesdays are good nights to go out on the town here; places are open for business but they’re not crowded. #lifeinMexico

While the hubs and his buddies wish a friend farewell who is moving to France I’ll be catching up on more laundry and then on foot scoping out an art gallery with a rooftop bar and another wine bar — both locations for future outings with friends. #lifeinMexico

Today instead of watching the AFC and NFC championship games, we’ll be meeting friends for a pozole lunch and then going to a beisbol final between our local team, the Charros, and the Culiacán Tomateros. We hope to see the Charros play in the Serie de Caribe, which starts February 2. #lifeinMexico

Both sides knew more cold-blooded murders committed by ICE were inevitable.

Today our lunch group is meeting at a plant expo and then going for brunch in a courtyard afterward. I think we’ll pass…We’re meeting our foodie group this evening at a beloved Chinese restaurant we’ve been wanting to try. Good Asian food is rare here and I can only put on the feed bag once a day.

This evening we'll be celebrating an anniversary of sorts by dining at Xokol, one of the world's 50 best restaurants. This special place features indigenous ingredients and cooking techniques and diners are seated communally at a single long table. #lifeinMexico

The hubs & I are going to the American Society for a French lunch this afternoon and then this evening I’m going to try a new-to-me wine bar with my ladies wine group. Obvious it’s not dry January around here. #lifeinMexico

ATTENTION: DEMOCRATS. THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS OUT OF HIS GODDAMNED MIND. HE HAS ALL BUT DECLARED WAR ON THE PEOPLE OF EUROPE AND THE PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA.

YOU NEED TO GET RID OF HIM. NOW. AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY KNOWS IT, EVEN IF THEY WILL NEVER PUBLICLY ADMIT IT.

We’d planned to make a Costco run this morning so we can pick up something for our book club this evening but after we got these three pieces home yesterday we noticed one of them has some paint peeling off the canvas. Now waiting for the artist to pick it up and take it for repair. #lifeinMexico

Once we get our laundry done (always an ordeal) and clean up the house a bit we're going to go pick up the art we bought from the artist's studio. It's not a holiday today here. #lifeinMexico

Walked a little of the recreativo this morning on our way to the bank before the hubs got nipped by a pit bull while waiting to cross the street. Now fortifying ourselves with brunch from this neighborhood food cart which serves fried egg sandwiches every day until 2 pm. #lifeinMexico

The weather turned rainy and cool yesterday and our vegan lunch was so filling that we passed on steak night last night. This evening we’re dining with friends who’ve just returned from a month in Southeast Asia. Guess I’ll be watching the Niners game today on my iPhone somewhere in Guadalajara.

Trying a vegetarian Latin food restaurant for lunch today in hopes that it will make up for the steak night we're itching to have. We're either going to grill a picanha on our balcony this evening or visit one of our favorite Argentinian steakhouses, Res Publica (great name!). #lifeinMexico
