Bailed on a trail half marathon today, made it a nice 10k instead and had more energy to enjoy the beautiful spring woods. A little disappointed, but I've been struggling with a migraine this week and it feels like part of learning to be a runner is dnfing sometimes.

I almost forgot! I got some moss pictures yesterday - a sort of patchwork quilt of fuzziness

Had the joy of seeing this today, in a packed auditorium, with many of the people interviewed in the film. It's so good, so funny, so playful. This is necessary history! I hope it gets wide circulation, it's good to celebrate our queer elders.

FYI google have now stopped "-ai" working at the end of your search string.

So put this at the end (after a space) instead:

&udm=14

Fuck you #google.

Last spring I ran past a huge chunk of oak with a free sign and begged my partner to drive by, so we'd have a log for moss in the yard. It would take all our strength to lift it, and we drove away with the back of the Prius scraping the ground.

Lovely to see it hosting a baby new turkey tail!

Good suite of resources here for information and action in response to the MMIW crisis.

Saw a screening of the film We Ride For Her, highly recommend - ideally as a community event

Did I unplug to disappear into the frosty woods for several hours today? I did and it was glorious.

(Very smart to have given myself a trail half at the start of March to feel mildly urgent about training for)

Re: transient outer knee pain I get only on long runs in downhills

when I try the stretches/exercises in the Frederickson protocol (scroll down to the b/w pics) #1 &3 are super intense in the glute on the knee pain side - pretty convincing!

In hindsight, going back to the lifting gym, climbing gym 2x and having a panic-induced long trail run the same week as I got my braces tightened might have been a lot

(after a month of holiday cookies and "rest days")

but it's the good kind of pain, mostly

After getting stuck in an industrial neighborhood from precisely 7:05 to 7:34 last night, in my gym clothes, in weather far too cold for that, waiting for a train to finish fidgeting at least 5 times back and forth across the road, I found there's a reporting site www.fra.dot.gov/blockedcross...

Sky tonight was so strange and lovely - this is just what my phone saw, no filters or futzing (the light on the branches is from the streetlight and I think the mosaic effect is because the clouds are low and reflecting city lights.)

So far I've twice overbudgeted the time it takes to bike across town - the pedestrian bridge makes biking there faster than driving. It's nice to take a few extra minutes looking out at the water. Or, in this case, noticing who is growing on the side of the bridge
