Since I'm part of a starter pack for the first time ever, I'd like all of my new followers to know how to add alt text to any images they share here. Like this one! When you add an image, you'll see a little black box with "+Alt" in white text at the upper left corner of the image.

Reminds me of a college town I used to know.
In June, a woman named Stephenie reached out to @propublica.org. An outreach worker told her we were reporting on cities conducting sweeps of homeless encampments, and she had a story to tell. 🧵

It would be cool if you used alt text. When adding an image, click the "+ALT" then write a description of the image.
You can set up a reminder:
Go to your profile settings, click "Accessibility" under Basics, make sure "Require alt text before posting" is toggled on.

Some people replace the word "season" with "szn" or the word "please" with "plz." Not all sighted users will know what those spellings are supposed to mean, and many screen reader users won't, either. Many screen readers will read "szn" as S-Z-N and "plz" as P-L-Z.

Ok, Bluesky, I'm here. I was never very active in the Bad Place, just occasionally posting or sharing something, even tried a Twitter Chat for a professional organization once. I'm someone who prefers the latest content shown in reverse chronological order, so this may not be my cup of tea. 1/2
