jeez, Minnesota, leave some legendary behavior for the rest of us

I live 40 minutes outside Minneapolis.

Our elementary school now has a video doorbell for the after school program pick up.

You know. So the government doesn’t kidnap children.

Nothing like having a complete breakdown in the middle of the day.

I knew this day would eventually come with my family but I just feel so alone

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

7 yr old: I have such a rich family

Me: what do you mean?

7: you make me good food. Dad plays with me.

Me: rich on love

7: exactly

We had 7 am hockey, 9 am basketball, followed by our Bi-weekly grocery shop.

I wasn’t online until about 12:30.

I’ve just been in shock the last two hours.

This is my home. This is my kids’ home.

3 yr old getting comfortable in bed with his stuffed Eevee: “I love you”

Me turning off the lights: “I love yo, too”

3: “No. I love you, Eevee”

This thread is so much. 😭
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

My parents always told me to treat people the way I want to be treated. But I think we should treat people the way they want to be treated.

So please, when you write stories about the VP, you need to respect his birth name and refer to him as James Bowman.

People don’t live in Minnesota for the weather.

We live here for the community. This isn’t a state for the weak of heart and I think the whole world is seeing just that.

Pretty sure the US military is going to be here before Tuesday.

My guess is MLK day so he can make that day about himself.

How do you explain to a 7 yr old that the “President” of her own country is waging war on her state?

If a Minnesotan says to you, "I don't plan to let you do that," run.

I’ve never been more proud to be a Minnesotan and less proud to be an American than right now.

If they are going to cut all the federal funding to Minnesota, I would like to cut my federal tax deduction. And I think nowadays you just need to proclaim something on social media for it to happen

I hear by end Minnesotans requirement to pay federal income taxes. CITIZEN ELIZABETH RW SMITH

Appreciate not only the display of humanity here, but also @pbump.com taking a second to note that there have been many other instances this year where other families probably felt the same way he does now.

Yesterday was a really dark day, especially living here in Minnesota.

Sometimes it can feel so overwhelming and impossible to make a difference.

This morning daughter’s teacher (1st grade) posted what her resolution was.

Raising the future generation to be better is an important role.

My goal for 2026 is to do at least 1 thing for myself every day.

I’ve been in a rut where I wake up a mom, work, go back to mom mode and then go to bed doomscrolling.

I want to find myself again.

This is hopefully my accountability 🧵

@amandabw425.bsky.social convinced me to watch Dawson’s Creek for the first time ever.

I know I’m 20 years late, but we don’t talk enough about how awful the Dawson character is.

All my love to JVdB. This is not a criticism of him as an actor.

New sites strongly overestimate my willingness to pay for a subscription. It is not humanly possible to pay for a subscription to every tv channel and every “news” site.

I’ll just find a similar article within 5 minutes just by scrolling.

Isn’t the point of ads to provide the revenue?

I’ve been the black sheep in my family for 32.5 years.

And I’ve spent as long as I can remember putting their feelings above my own.

Not sure how much longer I can do that. I’ve completely lost myself along the way.
