They are one of the tiny little birds that stay with us year round. In the winter they are especially busy, constantly foraging and talking.

Day 10 of #ArtAdventCalendar is a snowy day in Toronto. I love everything about snow except shovelling it. Its pretty, it's dramatic, it's cool & fresh, it's quiet and, if you're dressed for it, it's cozy. I paint the snow often and it's always different. Crisp, deep, blowing, sparkling, sloppy.
For just one moment 36x40, Oil on wood panel The sun is setting over a snowy field, glowing in orange and pink before fading to a blue sky above. The snow is blue with sparkles of the pink and orange light. Some tall grasses poke through the snow. On either side, tall trees are dark, silhouetted against the sky. The texture is rough, painted with knives and rollers.
