From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Schiff and Padilla, the two senators from California, represent 12% of the US population. It's beyond unacceptable that we can't leave voicemails with them whenever we want.
Just FYI, the offices for Schiff and Padilla won't allow voicemail right now
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.

One parent said she dropped off her child moments after the teacher was taken away and stumbled upon a chaotic scene. “I walked into a room of crying kids, crying parents and crying teachers,” she said. “It was traumatizing.”

Armed ICE officers arrested a teacher early Wednesday in Chicago after chasing her onto the grounds of a private preschool and grabbing her as parents and students looked on, according to a local official and witnesses.
Armed ICE officers chase teacher into preschool in Chicago
The arrest appears to be among the first in which in which immigration officers entered school grounds as part of an enforcement operation during Trump’s second administration.

Prop 50 was called the moment that polls closed in California. The blowout showed how showing up to fight is the most important thing in Democratic politics right now.
It also means that (pending SCOTUS) Dems have largely neutralized Trump's gerrymandering push.

California Democrats Win Redistricting Measure, Prove That Resistance Works - The American Prospect
The win, combined with several mid-cycle surprises, has weakened Trump’s shield against accountability for his unpopular reign, although the Supreme Court really holds the key to whether we’ll have so...

Time to feed people + continue to give them health care--that is putting America first.
Mike Johnson has the House adjourned for 42 days, Trump just came back from a week in Asia, remodeled a WH bathroom and flew to Palm Beach for a golf weekend, they refuse to negotiate with Dems, Dems had to sue to get Trump to release SNAP funds, but Republicans are blaming Dems.

Overnight, Trump and Republicans in Congress shut down the federal government.

They shut it down because they’re determined to strip healthcare from millions of Americans, to enrich the billionaires they serve, to continue the assault on our rights.

We must fight back.

STEPHANOPOULOS: The Democratic proposal is designed to prevent millions of Americans from losing their health insurance, losing Medicaid coverage, or paying higher healthcare premiums. Why are you against that?

MIKE JOHNSON: That's an absurd statement

CCPU mourns the devastating loss of Mary Gutierrez-Hunter. When providers came together decades ago to talk about our lack of collective power to negotiate over poverty wages, benefits, and more, Mary stood hand in hand with providers to help us form our union.
With heavy hearts, we mourn our union sister Mary Gutierrez-Hunter. Mary brought justice to those in need, beauty and laughter to every space she entered, and fierce dedication to working people. She lives on in our hearts and in our movement. Please keep her loved ones in your thoughts.
