Yes crows have mourn around their dead and ants make body piles, but humans' tendency to preserve our dead because we are too deeply emotional to let natural decomposition occur frankly disgusts me, despite being well-intentioned. And don't get me started about the funeral industry.

I get more flustered telling people "I have a strong platonic attraction to you" than I do asking people out and I think that's due to stigma and lack of normalization.

I put on the newest Shane Dawson video to see if he's changed at all, but roommate said he had no point of reference. So, I played the Chuck E Cheese pizza conspiracy, SUPERLUV (still stuck on my head a day later), and a Shannaynay compilation. Then told him he could extrapolate the fall from glory.

Can people stop valuing films for the popular actors in them and start valuing them for the level to which their stories compel you to be a better human? I.e. stop casting the same 20 people please; most of the popular ones just play themselves in every movie anyway and aren't actually acting.

I hated Fantastic Four so much that I came back to Bluesky just so I can complain about it. Good visuals, ngl (except the baby). But no plot, no character growth, and weirdly anti-abortion.
I'm reluctant to call any movie bad, but that was one of the worst films I've seen in a very, very long time.

A lot of the most impactful scientific discoveries were found not because we were looking for them, but because we were given creative freedom to explore areas of science that were unknown or not well understood. The current administration is taking this away from scientists.

Plain language is communication that your audience can understand the first time they hear or read it. This varies by audience, of course. What is common vocabulary for accountants won't necessarily be common for chemists, clergy, or engineers. Know your audience.

The Syrian Arabic word for a hamster is أبو جراب (abu jrab), where jrab refers to a pouch/saddlebag/tote. And abu often means “father of,” but can also function as a general honorific (like “mister”). So it’s not too big a stretch to say the Syrian Arabic word for a hamster means “Mister Saddlebags”

Alt audio would be a cute option alongside alt text, you could record up to 15 seconds describing a thing.
Opens it up a bit for people with disabilities/neurodivergences that interfere with typing alt text. Always a lil transcript to go with it, so deaf users remain included. Yeah.

I learned 한글 in an eighth the time it's taking me to learn the Arabic alphabet. Granted, the only thing I was doing back then was digging holes all day and going home to nothing but Talk To Me In Korean, Duolingo, and Mini Motorways.

Listen we can all hate Trump and Elon as much as we want because they are awful people, but it shouldn't go so far as to criticize their appearances. That has nothing to do with their personalities and calling their features ugly only hurts people who happen to share those physical traits.
