oops, my hand slipped

in which King Arthur decides to take the whole everyone-says-my-wife-is-banging-Lancelot thing into his own hands and they fuck about it, messily

or, Guinevere fucked her way into this situation and she will make Lancelot fuck her way out

I wish that in 2024 fan artists and writers make whatever they want, doesn't matter if it's cringe, doesn't matter if it's for a dead fandom or something that people hate. Doesn't matter what your followers followed you for. You make what you want!

The sadistic desire, born out of repression and self-loathing, to regulate and punish the harmless sexual thoughts and desires of others is one of the clearest horrors dogging human civilization, and I think it's time we started shaming people for it as hard as possible.

Dreamspinner Press is doing calls for submissions, so this is just a quick reminder that they stole a bunch of money from a lot of authors who have never been paid their outstanding royalties.

ok i think some of my terrible mood is that working on this book is bringing up writerly imposter syndrome again, and that's always really hard for me to deal with

I quote his songs all the time. His music helped shape my childhood. He is a NERD ICON.
APPRECIATION THREAD: Happy 96th birthday to the brilliant musical satirist Tom Lehrer, who said at one of his last shows in 1967, “All of these songs were part of a huge scientific project to which I have devoted my entire life. Namely, the attempt to prolong adolescence beyond all previous limits.”

god, i'm both glad to have some wee little social media again and i should probably be very careful about how much i let myself sit on blusky trawling, because this much knowledge of what's going on just makes me want to scream into a pillow nonstop

I can't overstate how awful this is. I've been involved with small/indie publishers whose distributors abruptly closed in the past, and it always leaves a trail of wreckage.

But SPD was literally irreplaceable. This is going to hurt the book world in ways we haven't yet started to understand.
For the small press/indie publishing community, reading about the end of a half century of Small Press Distribution (SPD) is just heart-breaking.
For now, how do publishers get monies owed and stock from warehouses?

Small Press Distribution closes, leaving indie publishers reeling
After the nonprofit suddenly shut down, presses scrambled to cover tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of sales — and to learn the whereabouts of their stock.

as a tidbit for those who have no idea what elfquest is, there may be few things more formative to how i write polyam and sex stories than the orgy in the fourth volume of the original elfquest run

shower thoughts: elfquest is a slow-motion tragedy about the weight and necessity of change and the death of an inherently interstitial culture - diasporic but deeply rooted in nature and the land. and that tragedy was inevitable if the story ran long enough
