Brought my refurbished 360 to my college dorm, sophomore year (‘08) & had to call IT so I could play online. My 1st COD was War at War & I’ve played every game since. TBH, the 360 era is probably my personal favorite era of my adult gaming life. The crew is still mad 1 vs 100 never brought back.
Happy 20th to the Xbox 360!

The Xbox 360 sold 42.7M consoles in the US lifetime, with Call of Duty: Black Ops II being its best-selling game in the US in both units and dollars.

The 360 Headset led accessory SKUs in US units sold at over 11.4M.

Amy exhibits such a powerful confidence and conviction. It somehow feels gentle and warm. Such a wonderful interview.

It’s funny that I was literally just saying how much I was enjoying Abundance (still very early in the audiobook) & now my timeline is full of critiques of Ezra Klein. Guess I have a post-class rabbit hole to jump down later tonight

Technically, globally. Grants from the NIH, NSF, DOD, etc. are propping up our entire research & PhD infrastructure. Financially, these grants extend internationally with foreign subcontracts & subawards. But ultimately , the resulting drugs and/or research saves lives & improves general knowledge.
I doubt that there is a single family in America that hasn’t benefitted directly from the NIH.

Skipped the line on the Libby app to listen to Abundance by @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social & @dkthomp.bsky.social. I am only 7% in & I feel so vindicated about things I’ve been saying for years. Even texted my mom & said “This is all the stuff I bore you & David with😅” Already a must read.

When I managed clinical research, we thrived when my interns shared a large conference room, my 2 full-timers shared an office, & I had a solo office. Our temporary run amounted to a small open plan, was very rough. It felt like we never got a chance to focus until the interns’ shift was over.
Academics! Have you worked in open plan environments? I'm curious to hear about your experiences & to understand more of the evidence base around how evolving space on campus can support the broader aims of interdisciplinary research teams. Insights, anecdotes, cautions, links gratefully received 🙏🏻

Same with work emails. Short/overly concise emails somehow feel rude to me based on how I was taught. If nothing else, they’ll have to snatch “Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day😊” from the signature of my cold, dead hands!
I think one of the ways K-5 fucked me up is because of the essays that had to be x number or pages or words, because i think that it's made me internally not default to being concise.

The older I’ve gotten, the more likely a game will never get beaten, no matter how good it is.
GAMING QUESTION OF THE DAY: Have you ever fallen off a game even though it was good? What happened? 🎮

I'm playing Bayonetta Origins after not touching it since May 13 2023. I'm enjoying it, but unfortunately Tears of the Kingdom came out May 12 2023 😅

I didn’t even get that far. I was still stuck on the fact that the gov’t had to release infographics & official how-to videos showing grown adults how to wash their hands properly & place masks over the nose AND mouth.
The hardest thing about it all is you question the values you shared with people you thought you knew.

You question if you even knew them at all..
I knew we were cooked as a society when everyone just sorta decided they were sick of dealing with Covid and everyone just decided to pretend like it wasn't a thing anymore.

I keep thinking about how children in the future will judge how we’ve met this moment. Have I personally done enough to make future humans proud? Am I actively being the positive global citizen I say I am?

That man has a high top fade mullet duo & two-toned Colonel Sanders antebellum south facial hair. He put all 11 Herbs, Spices, Hall,& Oats into that slap. He’s a Maneater.
OMG, he sent that man to the ancestors.
Hey #blacksky what makes a person decide this is the sport they want to be a part of?

To go from staging a Capitol Building Sit-in to continuing the same democratic playbook that’s never worked, is crazy work. There is no “wait your turn” in unprecedented times.

We should note NIH’s All-Of-Us project purchased & give consented participants FitBits to track their daily fitness for a year (key word being consented). I assumed he (or his backers) somehow bastardized the true intentions & future implications of this type data but on a significantly larger scale
RFK Jr. wants to see everyone in the US using wearable fitness trackers within four years. This idea is dumb for a lot of reasons, several of which I’ve mentioned here, and another one is that the tech usually gets outdated within 2 years.

A livable wage and safe neighborhoods last a lot longer.
