Counterintuitively, the IOC’s disqualification of Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych for insisting on wearing his “helmet of memory” at the Winter Olympics may have reminded the world of Ukraine’s ongoing suffering more effectively than the helmet itself could have.
