I was horrified to read about Kady Grass' ordeal in Illinois. But equally horrified to see many of the comments because apparently this 19 year old lesbian voted for Trump and deserves no sympathy. It's wrong: she certainly deserves our empathy. We mustn't become the thing that we hate ourselves.

I'm not sure I can hate any technology that comes up with gems like:

"When faced with the yawning abyss, mankind’s noblest response is to stuff it full of creme filling and hope for the best."

I had a fascinating discussion tonight. Posit that if time is infinite and matter finite then every possibly configuration of matter has happened, is happening, and will happen again. This implies there are infinitely many "us"es and we could exist as a superposition of a possibility space.

Remember if you have little kids and they freak out over something completely insignificant: Dropping that cookie into the sink was literally the worst thing to happen in their entire lives.

Why yes, I have approximate knowledge of many things.

I must not rust. Rust is the gear-grinder. Rust is the creeping decay that brings total disassembly.
I will face my rust. I will permit it to corrode over me and through me.

Qud is imo the first post-modern roguelike. The way player-created stories seamlessly weave into the world that you have crafted and that the game itself crafts creates something truly special. Together, the whole becomes so much greater than the sum of its parts.
This is the Qud narrative paradox. We get a lot of "there's a main quest??" which on the one hand, people clearly are getting filtered out of experiencing it. On the other hand, that's exactly what makes doing it so special: the unstagedness of a story vine growing out the spongey system sandbox
Folk keep posting humorous memes about how weird the Qud creatures are, which is totally fair. But I don't think a lot of people also clock how ambitious the main questline is. Qud also hits emotional registers that are touching and sublime - and all the more because those moments creep up on you.

If you're such an evil fuck that Charles Dickens would be like "Whoa, better back off a smidge on this guy, don't want my villain to be TOO over the top" maybe consider this a real life visit from the Marley Brothers and become a reformed Scrooge yourself. #unitedhealthcare #brianthompson

While I certainly don't believe we should be gunning people down in the street, it's difficult to find sympathy for a man who made billions off of human suffering. #unitedhealthcare #brianthompson #murder

I wonder if this trend will lead to "drug deserts" like has already happened with food. Assuming it hasn't already happened!

The hottest of hot takes /s: I feel like any philosophy or political school of thought that involves dehumanizing wide swaths of people is counterproductive to the change the adherents of such things claim they want.

After reading all the discussion around domain verification on here I feel like buying some trendy .tld domain name and setting up a service where people can sign up and get dv'ed without buying their own domain is a scumbag business opportunity. Adding a cname and a txt record per user is a low bar

Okay! Profile setup, I should look slightly less like an NPC now. Looking forward to joining another social network I can languish on in total obscurity! 😅
