One of the more shameful periods of our history but sadly far from unique. Even now, we have states offering the federal government land to use for new such camps such as Texas offering ranch land for use to detain Mexican nationals. If you find this abhorrent: you're not alone.

We cannot affect real, lasting change by ignoring people. We do not have to accept their viewpoints, but we must engage.

At the end of the day, we're all on this rock spinning through a vast emptiness together. And for better or worse, we all have to learn to live with each other.

It is easy to silo yourself and listen only to those people with whom you agree. It is much harder, but ultimately essential, to listen even closer to those you with whom you disagree.
